Max eye pokes

The UFC could just change the gloves but won’t. Have they ever said why?

Does the UFC consciously choose not to prevent eye pokes (they easily could change the gloves or demand automatic point deductions) because eye pokes can lead to highlight real KO’s?

Max pointed to a spot to stand and bang in the middle of the Octagon and I’m surprised JG could even see the spot.

I love Max and his KO was one of the best of all time but he intentionally eye raked twice before it happened…
shit happens.

Watch JG's brutal eye poke of Dustin in their first fight

I’m not saying Max is any worse than anyone else, but this shit doesn’t have to happen. Like some shit has stopped happening, nobody pulls hair anymore, the Jo Son type ball smashing doesn’t happen anymore

Some shit must be flushed

Allegedly they have released new gloves they plan to implement in their events.

Different colors for different fight events -
Red = Road To The UFC fights
Blue = Dana White’s Contender Series fights
Black = Standard UFC fights
Gold = Championship fights

Nothing intentional about it, and he adjusted to closed fists after his second warning…

I do think that as long as refs aren’t taking points away to discourage posting with an open hand, eye pokes will be a problem, but Max heeded the ref’s warning so it didn’t spoil the fight too much.

I mean teh Chris got persecuted by Sher-wokes but Max gets a pass?

Notice the difference in reaction to when weidman did it to when Holloway did it. The hypocrisy

ugh, if Max eyepokes Justin and Justin draws attention to it, Max would wait for the referee to step in instead of following up with fight-ending shots.

we also look at Weidman with a lot of suspicion ever since he tried to get a false DQ win over Mousasi whereas Max accumulated a lot of good grace with us throughout his career.

You still bitter he KO’d Anderson….just admit it and lets move on.

I like Weidman. He went to Hofstra and he saved a person's life once.

Facts are facts though, he's now known as a guy who's willing to exploit technicalities/rulesets to get wins.

I cannot really see those pokes as accidental since he landed twice(his fingers were clawing out many times at close range) and only stopped when he got a serious warning which would have given him a point deduction if it happened again.

That was kind of my thought too. Sure, Max is usually a clean fighter, so this is out of character for him, but for something "accidental," it sure stopped awfully quick once the point deduction was threatened.

I'm not saying Max was intentionally trying to poke Justin, but clearly there are levels to how careful or careless a fighter can choose to be.

Not that it matters now but there should have been a point deduction after the 2nd eye poke. It's ridiculous a foul that can be fight altering and damgerous has very little consequence and a fighter can do it twice before a consequence

Max stopped fighting signaled the ref and apologized. The Chris used his eye pokes to hide a punch to get a tko then blamed Silva for not fighting threw it.

Justin should have taken his full 5 minutes for each poke and punted Max's nuts to start rnd 3. If the UFC, ref's or commission aren't willing to address the problem fighters should take matters into there own hands.

An eye for a nut
