It's a bad situation. A no contest is always extremely anticlimactic. There should be full accountability for illegally compromising the opponent's ability to fight, but you of course also don't want people to try use being poked as a way to get a win, which would be the risk if it caused a DQ.

As it stands it's certainly beneficial to break the rules a bit since you have more to gain than to lose, if we're not considering reputation.

At this point just make cheating legal.

You reminded me of my thoughts on the emrging cheating scandal in the NBA. If you want to solve the problem of players fixing prop bets, do two things:

1) Make it legal for players to fix prop bets, and
2) Make it illegal for sports books to void bets because players fixed a prop bet.

You won't have to wait long for sports books to stop taking silly prop bets and for the problem to go away.
