Marvel Just Killed Thanos (Comic Book)

Do you know when issue 1 ships ?? Sorry for the questions
99% sure it ships next week. I am under the impression that this event will move pretty quickly, but it is relative, bc there are several spin off miniseries that go with it. The Infinity Warp two shots, Sleepwalker mini, etc.

Did you read Countdown to Infinity Wars? And how do you like the new Infinity Watch. Def a random group of characters holdings the stones.

And did they say how wolverine got one

I think its both. While they are afraid to risk proven cash cows, when they do try reboots they're generally not well received. Those are a bit of a half measure though. I'd prefer NEW characters over twenty different versions of Spiderman, but I get why they do it.

I prefer alternate continuity myself. Something like the ultimates lets them take established characters in a new direction, and even have lasting deaths, without being saddled with 50 plus years of continuity. The first two volumes of the Ultimates still rank among my favorite comics ever.

If you like the superhero stuff, give Invincible a shot. Just be aware it takes a little bit to get going. A fun take on Superboy transitioning to Superman. I won't get into too much detail because the plot is filled with twists and turns and is very exciting. They can take risks because they're developing the world as they go, so no cries of you CAN'T kill Dudeman, he has seventy five years of history!

Its by Kirkman who also writes the walking dead comic. Which if you haven't read it, is hands down the best zombie comic ever made and is MUCH better than the crappy tv show. In fact TWD is probably my favorite comic EVER, which is really saying something. And Invincible is in my top ten as well, probably even top five.

the ultimate universe was the best thing to happen to Marvel. I miss it.

I did read it, and I liked it. Turning Darkhawk into a major player was a surprise. They seem to be on a 90's throw away character kick right now, but what they're doing with these previously "who gives a shit" characters is pretty awesome. Looking forward to seeing what they can do with Sleepwalker.

I don't think that it was revealed how Wolverine gained the stone in any of the books I read. If it was, it must have been a brief explanation, bc I don't remember. There were several Wolverine minis going on lately, I didn't read any of them, but perhaps one of those explains it. I do know that he gave his stone to Black Widow, and she is the current owner.

Yes, the current Infinity Watch is a motley crew. It makes sense to have people from different backgrounds holding the stones, they won't be quick to trust each other, necessarily. Stilt Man is an obvious character who won't let anyone have his stone, who trusts no one else. That isn't to say that someone else can't overdose him, but in order to keep the stones separated they need to be held by those who don't trust each other. Black Widow is good bc the others know she can't be trusted. I like the dynamic.

It's coming back.

for real? I might have to subscribe to some comics again. I used to have subscriptions to over 20 Marvel comics per months/release period. Now I have zero.

I stopped after the ultimate universe ended, and soon after House of M/Civil War ended. Right when World War Hulk was starting.

I do miss it, but the Marvel universe is so big. That's why I liked the ultimate universe. I have every issue from every series in the Ultimate universe. Some are worth a pretty penny. I have them bagged and boarded, I need to get them appraised and put in hard plastic.

Ultimate universe was like 4-6 series, depending on the time. Not like 50 different series, all with tie-ins.

I have the marvel unlimited app so I’m months behind what’s currently being shipped but I glance at comic book websites to sorta keep up to date.

And I agree Marvel pushing characters like Sleepwalker and Darkhawk in a major event seems more like a DC comics move than a Marvel one. I remember when they pushed a throwaway character like Booster Gold during the 52 weekly era. He became a major player. They did the same during Brightest Day, when they brought back many forgotten characters and made them important.

Wait so wolverine is no longer in the Infinity Watch and now Black widow is? I never really cared for the Black Widow character, there are far better female heroes that I enjoy much more but when you describe it in the way which you were saying it makes more sense.

I also notice captain marvel is back and I don’t know how that happened.

I also loved the Ultimate Universe but the best era from that line was the beginning.

You had great writers like Miller, Bendis, Warren Ellis helming the imprint.

It also gave us Miles Morales who is a huge fan favorite and one of the best new-er-ish characters created.

He’s super popular and has a cartoon movie coming out this winter. Great character

I'm lost on a lot of things like Captain Marvel too. I don't read most Marvelous comics. There are a few I keep up with, and the big events like Infinity Wars. Some things I have to just piece together. Lately I've been reading Avengers (the last arc from the previous series, No Surrender, was really good, and I've read the first five issues of the new series and it is amazing so far. They're turning Ghost Rider into something special), Weapon H, Immortal Hulk (which is a horror series), and the new Sentry series. I'm giving Mr & Mrs X a try, but it is only one issue in and seems to be geared towards women, not sure that i will stick around.

Comic Book Thanos is in love with Death herself. Thanos regards being violently killed as foreplay;)

I hate how Thanos is drawn with eyeballs now. Just because movie Thanos had eyeballs doesn't mean they need to draw the comics to match.

The old eyeless Thanos looked more badass.

Of course it will be a woman lol. Marvel is so fucking done when the movies stop making money.

Wait until Captain Marvel uses her Super-Feminism to hand Thanos his ass in Avengers 4:rolleyes:

Was No Surrender before or after Generations

Was No Surrender before or after Generations
It was the most recently completed arc. Just ended about two months ago. It ended the previous Anvengers ongoing series and led into the new ongoing series. Quicksilver was a big player in that story, has a miniseries going right now that stemmed from that.

It was sooooo good. Then eventually they changed all the writing teams and it got really, really bad. A lot of people don't seem to know the MCU is pretty much based on the Ultimates versions, and look how well that went.

Okay so it was after Generations. Generations was the series that brought the old and new characters together.

Like Spidey and Miles, x23 and wolverine. Captain Marvel and ms marvel
