I remember an article years ago about a dude wanting to reclaim comics for nerds. It was something like, "Growing up, comicbook superheroes were the property of us losers and outcasts. Now everyone loves them!"

I liked a lot of the stuff they did in the 90s where Alan Moore and Grant Morrison did trippy limited runs on established franchises like Swamp Thing and Animal Man. Of course that stuff always gets retconned away or forgotten in the canon.

Those were regular runs, and meant as canon.

That is a weird hipster mentality to have. The more people that like what you like, the more content and content creators you get.

I'm sort of a nerd and I never cared about comics in the least... or crap like GI Joe.

When I grew up, it was matchbox cars and sports to keep me entertained.
