well yes, the diva champs are a problem. But the UFC is not a platform for ZEROS like CM Punk to fight nobodies and maybe get a win.. Same goes for Greg hardy.

Its prize fighting man. Its not like they gave cm phil a title shot. Far as hardy goes hes kind of goof but hes trying and hes active and they didnt just give him a title shot either. Im not really an mma purist and I think a little bit of fun here and there isnt such a bad thing. Id enjoy it every so often if they let celebs duke it out , id enjoy it if they went inter gender ... I just like to see people get in there and seeing what happens with it ya know ?

Lastly most of these guys careers they dont make a lot of money and not everyone who fights will be champion. Its nice to see that maybe we have found a way for some of those guys to get some big money fights and celebrate them a little bit.

Despite some of the negative talk about the BMF belt and the odd tie-in with entertainment wrestling, but the facts show that the event was a success at least from this fight fans perspective. All the fights last night were highly entertaining.
I think the BMF belt can cross all weight and gender classes it can be defended by the last year winners or given up for another two fighters to fight for the belt could be a symbolic title but the money to fight for it very real make it the BMF/Money belt with sponsors and ownership throwing money behind it so that it's a title fighters wanna be chosen for and true incentive to train for.

That's another thing the UFC can do get the fanz involved in nominating match up the UFC puts up the names the fanz vote all most like a probowl for fighters. The UFC can also make other division titles under the same event

I agree. Maybe they can do it each year in July during international fight week in Vegas.

No legitimate sports competition gives out fake championships and puts people into championship matches or ridiculously high ranking positions just to promote a match that will get the fans to tune in to the show. That's what pure entertainment products like pro wrestling or celebrity competition shows do. Legitimate sports only focus on performance, as in beating the most successful competitors instead of just having a huge fanbase behind you and building the competition around that.

REALLY? with your 2018 join date, you probably missed CM Punk's fights. THAT hurt the sport.

No real need for me to address this post since @nevernamed done posted for me...

I've started following MMA back in 2010 if that's what you care about (great argument btw, please also make assumptions about my age, sexual activity and correct my grammar to complete the picture). I also witnessed stuff like the James Toney stint before that. Neither of those was nearly as detrimental to the sport because it was pretty much clear from the start this would be a short-lived outlier. The whole BMF event is different, it's just the pinnacle of the UFC's continuous tragic development into a circus and most certainly won't be the end of it

Would you have felt any different if they gave them a trophy or a ring instead of a BMF belt or is the name of belt that bothers you? Because last nights show was no different from any other ppv show accept there was a promotional fun title on the line. Still had to train, still had to make weight, still had to be clean, but somehow having a fun belt of recognition of it is gonna delegitimize mma or the UFC..?

Jorge's Wiki Profile has him down as the 1st ever BMF title holder. Sounds good to me.

Open weight tournament. It's the only way to legitimize the BMF belt in any way.

How about rather than making it a yearly event, we retroactively look at the year and award it to the winner of the most violent fight that occurred. It would be just as meaningful as it is now, and that way there's no letdown or underwhelming fight that was promoted but didn't deliver.

Of course, then you don't have a meaningless belt to promote a card, which was the whole purpose of all this, so...who knows.

The name is most certainly an issue cause it's just ridiculous, exactly what you'd expect from a cheap freakshow. And yes, a trophy wouldn't have been better. Well, maybe a little better, because a belt in this particular sport is a clear sign of being at the top of the competition. But even a trophy would raise the question, where's the legitimacy? Why is a normal contender's bout suddenly worth a trophy and that championship level promotion? Why don't other card headliners or contender fights not warrant such a trophy? To put more simply: wtf is this shit?

I totally get where you coming from my only worry is a HW running things merely because they were born big...

I liked this entertaining but useless belt but after yesterdays fight i try to forget that belt even exist <{ByeHomer}>

As I just posted earlier not everybody can be champion but even a gatekeeper can be a badass for 1 night...
The Mas vs Diaz matchup was good in terms of excitement and even in terms of two late-peaking fight vets in a deep WW div but the made up belt was cheesy and kind of childish, labeling the BMF as a theme or event title by was even fine until an actual belt was made.

I disagree I think people are turned off by the name BMF because it comes across as ghetto if it were a formal name maybe it wouldn't seem as gimmicky. I see nothing wrong having a separate title or belt some fighters will never be a champion but even a gatekeeper can be a BMF for a year...

As I said, I prefer MMA to be a sport. If they create this title, what are the criteria to determine who fights for it? Now, if they decided to do a ‘fan favorite’ fight every so often, whatever they decide to call it, that would be cool. Maybe even have a fan vote for either individual fighters or specific match ups.
As for the BMF title, my objection isn’t that it’s too ‘ghetto’, it’s that neither of the guys fighting for that belt last night was the baddest in the division, much less the entire UFC. Off the top of my head, I can think of a half dozen guys I would favor to beat both of them, so how does a fight between them determine the baddest?

Mma fans think there some type of bushido warrior, keep talking about honor and respect . They should have it for every division. Literally a fans favorite type of thing . It’s rare to know that every fight is going to be banger . Majority of the planet dosent care about the welterweight title picture . And also some Divisions are so stacked . Guys can be on 11 fights winning streaks. Deserve this belt

The real bmf of this sport , I've deducted can only be one of four. As a disclaimer, I'm going back in time or present. This also must be a heavyweight or somebody lighter who is obvious or someone who's fought open weight and has never said "no" to a fight. " OR" ... not " AND" :

Prime Fedor - we all know how much of a bad mofo the man was.

Stipe - gots to give it...... and beat a legit goat to get the heavyweight championship of world back- bad mofo walking ( not even a stipe supporter so I'm just dishing it straight).

Jon Jones- Hes really undefeated, weve seen this man go through some bad ass 205ers like a hot knife through butter and Jones would currently open up the betting favorite over any 205er OR HEAVY- Bad mofo walking.

Gegard Mousasi- a clean middleweight who's been championed at 205 in top promotions, has fought in 3 weight classes and is undefeated at open/heavy weight- (12-3 under zuffa)- bad mofo walking ( ask the infamous Lee Murray). The mans eye socket blew up 45 seconds into a fight......and still won.

This should put bmf topic to rest. I'm sure I've forgotten a fighter or 2 who could make my list but it's still Sunday morning so I'm still a bit foggy. Going on my final cup of jo , so I'll be 100% lucid soon.
