Well, they covered a lot of different topics about it. I don’t want to say too much detail as I may get it wrong, as it is a topic I never really looked into before and had on in the background as I worked.
But the notion was when manufacturing jobs were shipped overseas, people were told to learn code. Now those people who were told to code are losing jobs to people being shipped here from overseas.
A lot of them are not the best and brightest, they have degrees some mediocre schools and basically get on the job training here. Moreover it is basically like indentured servitude in that they bring them over, pay them less, treat them worse, but they will put up with it because their countries suck. Which undermines American workers and values for profit.
Trump had wanted to reform the Visa program during his first administration, greatly reducing it and rather than a lottery style (which doesn’t guarantee the best), do it based on salary being offered. However some close in his admin were against it, and slow walked his reform until a month or so before he left office and then Biden scrapped it.
Like I said, I hadn’t thought much about h1b visas before, but hearing them talk and being up the Disney story reminded me that one of my best buds worked for Wells Fargo and basically was sent to India for 2 months to train the people who would be replacing him.
Not because they were more qualified than my friend as he was indeed training them, but because they were cheaper, can be treated worse, etc.
Went into other tangents related to it, but those were main take away I guess.
Some did ail 3, but VERY few of us athletes can do calculus, and most scientists can't even hit a foul shot.
