This type of thing always happens to dominate nations. The success and wealth is so great no one needs to try much to live a comfortable life.

This was a part of the downfall of the Mongols for instance. The founding generations of the Mongol empire were some of the hardest ruthless mother fuckers that ever existed that grew up in the saddle and engaged in all types of hunting and warfare since childhood, but within two generations that had become so soft from the literal endless caravans of tribute being brought to their capitols their children and grandchildren were basically a bunch of drunken losers and any battlefield edge they had was gone.

I used to do a bit about this- immigrants will move here with no money and a tentative grasp on the English language and within 5 years they own their own business, drive a nicer car and have more money than me.
