We get access to the best workers in their prime working years, and don't have to pay for their education or retirement. It's very beneficial for our economy that's been running at full employment especially as demographics decline.

My Mother wanted a new Escalade for the past couple of years. She is retired now and was scared to pay the money that they want for these new trucks. I have been keeping her 2013 Escalade running and performed lots of maintenance and service on it once the warranty ran out. Well I spend most of time out of state now so I can no longer fix her truck when it frequently breaks down...Been taking her car shopping for every kind of luxury SUV.

The Cadillac dealership she bought her past cars from ordered her a brand new Escalade upon her request. Well we found a low miled 2023 Escalade ESV Sport Premium at an auction I frequent. She simply called up the Cadillac dealership & told them she found a better deal. She did not lose her deposit.

Imagine being the richest man in the world and trying to steal a $2500 deposit from a working class person. Especially when Tesla is famous for not delivering there vehicles when initially promised when taking mass deposits

So the guy who jerks customers around with lengthy waits post deposits now all of sudden wants to not return the curtesy his customers & stans have graciously extended to him. Typical

I would love to see the purchase or deposit agreement to see if or how the non refundable deposit was specified or disclosed.

Deposits are usually not refundable if a contract is broken but again... do they purchase cars differently in California? I have never seen a person drive off a lot without financing which means dealership is paid so the fight after is you and the lender. It avoids this type of issue with a dealership.

That didn't come from copying hillbillies or from Africa. It's came from a system that dehumanized people and treated them like human cattle. There was no black American culture before slavery. It didn't exist. It's origin is literally the slave era. And America's inability to come to terms with that fact and to treat American created issues affecting black Americans as "black problems" rather than American problems is one of the reasons why the issues still persist.

Yes & no.
That's not how custom ordering a brand new car works in many instances now a days. Especially when its not built yet and no real collateral or firm ETA for the collateral exists yet. It varies from dealer to dealer & brand to brand .Even personal profile to personal profile.
Otherwise people would be stuck paying interest on a car loan they don't have a car for, for an unknown amount of time. Or one's profile can change to where they qualified for a car one year then in the many months to a year it took for the manufacturer to build the car they may have hurt their credit and or income.
But all that is kind of besides the point. Tesla has their own DTC model which has mountains & mountains of complaints.

So under what circumstances would you say Elon's company is right to keep the deposit vs it ripping somebody off?

I mean that's a paywalled opinion piece, but sure competition in labor markets is going impact wages, but my statements were more general in terms of the economy and visa practice, not specific to any sector. The majority of visa workers are not in the tech industry.
