Jake is a natural 200 pound plus guy. In his fight before last he competed at heavyweight and weighed in at 227 lbs. Look at his frame compared to Topuria. They're several weight classes apart in size. We're talking about Topuria here a guy that used to compete as a bantamweight in his early 20s that now campaigns at lightweight which is only 155 lbs in MMA. Jake would die trying to cut down that much.
I mean i just feel topuria can still do damage weight is important but it's not magic if a guy who knocks everybody out with a admittedly small glove hits you without a glove your still bleeding from the nose

In a street fight he probably could do damage but he'd still be giving up every physical advantage known to man and by a ton. We've already covered the weight but what about height & reach? According to the stats Jake would have a half foot in height and over a half foot (7 inches) in reach on him as well. That's a hell of a lot of weight and range (height & reach) to give up.

You're showing me a phenomenal athlete that overcame those extreme range advantages against an opponent in the same weight class. Jake Paul is naturally several weight classes bigger than Topuria on top of the huge range advantage that he'd have. This is why people give Usyk so much credit for beating today's heavyweights despite them not being very good. He's beating guys much larger than himself while also giving up tremendous amounts of height & reach.

Paul is not very good and Davis has real power and is at a decent age, so I feel like it applies. Your post was about things other than the weight so that was what I was going for.

We weren't even talking about Davis. What we were discussing was a 1v1 street fight between Jake & Topuria who used to literally fight at bantamweight as an adult.

Jake Paul really is not nearly as big as you're making him to be. Most of his fights have been well under 200 pounds, and quite frankly, when he's fought bigger guys he looks pretty fat for a boxer. He's a very modest sized middleweight in MMA.

He's also a mediocre boxer by professional boxing standards, while Topuria is like...probably going to be a top 5-10 MMA fighter of all time? Topuria is going to be knocking guys out who are natural 180+ pounders (who are some of the best fighters in MMA). The only career boxers Paul fights are legitimately club level boxers, and he lost to one of them.

I dont think Jake Paul has a particularly great chance in a fight with no rules.

There have been guys around Topuria's size who are much worse who have beaten fighters significantly bigger than Jake Paul in MMA fights (see old fights in Dream, Pride, Pancrase, UFC etc). Topuria isn't Demetrius Johnson small.

The lowest Jake has ever weighed is still in the 180s and he looked pretty lean. He used to cut to get there. His natural weight (without cutting) is 200+ lbs. Topuria is a midget that used to fight at bantamweight. Show me one fighter that Topuria has knocked out that's Jake's size. I'll wait.

Reportedly this will be a real exhibition fight rather than a glorified sparring session. A winner will be announced. I expect a draw if it goes the distance and is even remotely close. Both will be wearing 12 oz gloves. Tank normally uses 8 oz, Jake normally uses 10 oz. That's an additional 50% more padding than Tank is accustomed to competing in but only 20% more for Jake (excluding sparring where you'll typically see 16 oz gloves or larger). There's a weight clause in the contract as well that will cap Jake's weight to no more than 195 lbs. Tank is very light so it'll still be a huge difference in the ring even if he decides to bulk up. Jake is also going to offer a lucrative KO bonus. He hasn't disclosed the figure yet. While this spectacle was always going to be a shit show it does make things a little more interesting.
