"Living Wage" fee on receipts?

they ask for donations at every check out now as well..

Then some of them side eye you if you say no lol

Bitch you already made billions in profit, donate that shit yourself
Do you mean for charities? If so, I say "I have charities I give to" and it keeps the side eye from happening. It's the truth, too.

Another thing I assume should be illegal. I went to a diner recently and they had a note on their counter stating that they charge 8% more if you don't use cash because they need to pay for their debit/cc reading service. <JagsKiddingMe>

Since when did restaurants start charging each customer for their bills on top of their food/service.

Amount companies can get charged on credit card fees is insane. Why most small food places around here have a $10 spending limit before a credit card can be used. Even certain well known specialty restaurants flat out dont accept credit cards. Caterers preferred payment method is by check.

One BBQ place i go to has two different grand total prices depending upon payment method used. Credit card payment is slightly more so you cover the credit card usage fee.

Why don't they just raise prices? I don't really understand why this fee can't just be rolled into the prices of the food items, especially given that it seems to be mandatory.

They do raise prices. They did. Food prices are crazy right now. But the reason they want this distinguished is obvious, any establishment that lists the charge in this manner has disdain for the idea of living wages paid to their workers from their own profits

Well to me it just looks like a hidden fee so that the restaurant can advertise lower food prices but actually charge more when the final bill comes. On top of that it also has the potential for people to accidentally tip more than they otherwise would have if they miss that line item. It's kind of a scummy move.

I agree it's a scummy move, but its worded that way to spark a reaction if anyone notices. If they wanted it hidden it could be pretty easily obscured with some nonsense name. It has a description that's politically charged. "Living wage" makes people feel some kind of way.

You guys startinv to see these bullshits in your receipts?

Just call it a mandatory tip

i always tip absurdly big when i'm in american restaurants, like over 50%, because i just don't want to see any sort of sour bullshit on the faces of the server. i'm paying so my day doesn't get ruined, not because i want to.

it's the only country in the world where i cringe when i think i have to go to the restaurant. you guys need to fix the system somehow, cause it just looks like the whole deal simply doesn't work unless some sort of slavery is happening.

New yacht fund better not come out of living wages

If that covers the tip I'm not exactly opposed to it. At the risk of sounding like a commie I very much prefer European tip culture over American tip culture.
