Wouldn't the potentially more effective route been to turn his activism and skill set toward legally fighting for local and state environmental concerns? It would also have allowed him to continue his efforts on behalf of the LGBT community. All in all, he could have potentially reached and helped more people by less self-destructive means through pro-bono environment legal work and general activism.

A man who would kill himself in the most excruciating way imaginable over this shit, is not of sound mind.

I do value human life, that's why I think this is hardcore. Some people lash out and kill others, they don't value human life. But for someone to come to the conclusion that their own life is worth sacrificing for an issue is quite a powerful statement. The Middle East is no stranger to suicide bombings and terrorist attacks but it was a self immolation which set off the Arab Spring and shook the region to its core, that's the power of such an act.
