Leon is completely forgotten

He let his moment in the limelight pass after the Usman victory. He could have ridden the wave longer and called out Masvidal to settle the score after their beef. It would have sold well.

Leon was getting beat by Usman before the KO
Anyone at the top of the division would've ridden Colby outta the title picture
Did absolutely nothing & looked awful in a title defense against Belal
& doesn't want anything to do with the new contenders of 170

He's irrelevant now.

hit lightning in a bottle with the usman headkick

boring personality, boring point fighter style

there's not much to like

Undefeated for almost 10 years.
Knocked out Usman is amazing fashion.
Great post fight interview.
Defeated Usman in the trilogy.
Rid the WW title picture of Colby.

Loses to Belal and now no one cares.
What went wrong?

Maybe he should have taken a fight with an exciting opponent ?

Was always gonna happen, really. His style is dull, he's not a marketable guy and he only got the title shot for a fresh face - the UFC never thought he was gonna win, as did most of us.

How can you say he has no heart?

He headkick KOed the P4P#1 after being dominated for 4 rounds straight.

He also ended the Belal fight on top doing more damage than Belal did the entire fight.
Because his style is mostly being a moment-picker, but not often enough in fights he's losing, people question using that heart appropriately. He really just feels defeated until he decides to muster himself up and do something

That and seemingly coasting in fights he's winning makes him seem extremely low energy

To me. Lack of heart is giving up in fights, or sitting back and accepting a loss. Which Leon never does. He didn't against Usman, and he didn't against Belal either.

He absolutely coasts and is low energy, but neither of those things have anything to do with a lack of heart.

There are many valid criticisms of Leon Edwards (and his brother). Claiming he has no heart is not one of them.

Leon is the perfect example of a cookie-cutter MMA fighter. Absolutely nothing unique about anything he does or the way he applies himself. You could barely put a highlight video together for him before the Usman high kick. That's his one shining moment in the sport.

Combine that with a non-existent personality and awkwardness and it's pretty easy to see why Leon was barely noticed to begin with, and easily forgotten. The world of fame is a cruel place and it keeps getting uglier.

Yeah when you don't have a fight booked and lost your last one in boring fashion you tend to lose a bit of steam. What do you expect?

I think this is really fair comment, and I say that as someone who absolutely admires Leon's skills. He'll never be a trash talker, he's not that kinda guy. But I would love to see him enter the octagon with a genuine desire to f up his opponent.

After his disappointing performance against Belal on home soil where he was dominated, no wonder he is completely forgotten. He had a underwhelming performance against Colby, was being dominated by Usman in the first fight before he landed the kick- so combine that with his boring personality it is no surprise he is forgotten. Would love to see him come back and face the loser of Shavkat/Garry or JDM in his next fight.

I don't remember it that well, but I think Leon sat back and accepted 4 rounds of losing to Belal before actually kicking things into gear round 5. Could be wrong on that though.
