Legalized marijuana

All that's changed is a massive increase in tax revenue, fewer people locked up for minor drug charges, and even a drop in youth smoking marijuana.

Illegal pot will dramatically drop in price, but eventually become unnecessary. Quality will go up and you’ll have access to amazing things that were being kept from you. Edibles, where you know exactly what and how much you’re eating, discreet vape pens where you can smoke on the go. It’s glorious.

Yea this is real talk

I wasn’t hurting before legalization but afterwords was so much better. Getting a thc soda and making a cocktail with it while smoking some stardawg is a great way to relax after a work week.
It’s been years since I partook but I wouldn’t even take sombody up on a black maker offer anymore. I prefer the lame legal way.

We (Illinois) are about 2 weeks away from legalization now. I've been keeping up with how things are progressing and what to expect.

To start there will only be 30 some medical dispensaries in the entire state that will be licensed to sell recreational marijuana. That's it. The vast majority of them are in the Chicago area about 2 1/2 hours away from me. The closest ones to me are at least 1 hour away. There is a medical marijuana dispensary literally 10 minutes from my house but it has not been licensed to sell recreational yet. I have found no timetable for when it will be. WTF?

The marijuana leaves on the map below represent the only places in the state that it will be available come Jan. 1st.

From what I have read I can expect very long lines and shortages because the demand will far outweigh the supply for quite awhile. So I can potentially drive 2 hours round trip, wait in line for hours, and have nothing at all to show for it.

I am pissed off to say the least.

Legal in Chicago (illinois) Jan. 1 2020.

What's the point now just fucking federalize it already an let the stores use banks. Enough.
.... yeah and let government workers smoke it too!

AZ. We have none of those problems. This thread made me stop by the shop and the special was $10 grams on all flower. I got 2 grams of 2 different top shelf indicas, both testing above 20% for $20. They had about 20 strains spread over three shelves. There is no way I could have done that back in the day.

Where in AZ are you from? I'm in Sedona & the closest dispensary that I know of is in Cottonwood.
Don't you need a card to buy it here in AZ though? My pain management doctor is looking to getting me a card though. Which is the total opposite of back in New York where you couldn't have any weed in your system if you're on narcotic pain killers. Whereas my new doctor here actually encourages it as supplemental pain relief.

Legal weed would be great for edibles, I can’t make the butter or cook at home with a young kid here.

lol no this one is actually in the city of Costa Mesa, but there's plenty of clinics as I described above.
Cool. My wife & I will be going to SoCal in the spring because she has to give a seminar at an eating disorders clinic in Newport Beach for her job. Then we're going to be visiting her best friend in Costa Mesa. She has a yoga studio right by the fairgrounds. Is that clinic anywhere near there?

Do edibles and smoking give you different highs?

Find a place that takes pre-orders, and pre-order before you start the trip. Pre-order may also have it's own, potentially shorter line.

A 2 hour round trip isn't too bad. I live in NYC, and if i want legal rec weed, I'm looking at a 5 hour round trip to the closest legal rec shop.

They do, you have more control with smoking, if edibles hit too hard, you’re in for a ride.
Edibles are only for days you’re ok with wasting if you eat them early and plan on doing anything

They have a happy hour starting at 4:20pm until 7 I think, as a first timer you get something extra as well.... Makes miss California

I feel with edibles the effect is less sudden but lasts longer
Only problem I have with edibles is that it can take a couple hours or more to feel the effect, which is no good if you need a quick pain killer. But they do last longer and I find are way more trippy

Thanks. I'll give that a try. But I have been doing a lot of reading about how this initial rollout is expected to go and I haven't come across anything at all about dispensaries offering a pre-order option.

And yeah, a 2 hour round trip sounds a hell of a lot better than a 5 round trip. I would not even consider making a 5 hour drive. It just really burns me because, like I said, there is a dispensary literally 10 minutes from my front door that for some reason won't be licensed for recreational, at least initially if ever. When the law passed I assumed that's where I would be going.

I also assumed that it would be widely available in marijuana shops all over the place as soon as the law takes effect, not just certain medical dispensaries. I expected this thing to really hit the ground running. It's not going to. I guess I was naive.

In Ontario it sucks.

Not enough stores and what they sell is expensive. I've got one good strain from a dispensary but once it sold out it was gone. All of the weed is just ok, none of it is very good. All looks great it just isn't. Edibles are a roll of the dice, the consistency in those products is non existent.

Cannabis is the only reason why I want to move to Canada.

Canada rocks baby.

Canada east coast I find the product is more expensive but it's also consistent in quality and varied in selection. And I don't have to wait on some dude deciding to answer his phone.

It's not the best stuff I've ever had but it's still better than most I was getting from the black market.

If I was still 18 I'd be broke trying to use the legal product but nowadays I'm willing to pay a little more for convenient, reliable product for the occasional puff.

This, prices are outrageous here in Ontario, Canada. Cheapest gram in the dispensary is like 12$ each. Apparently when edibles become legal its gonna be like 10mg per bag, so you'll need to buy like 10 bags to feel anything.

Prices are super high (pun intended) in Ontario for sure. Especially when you can buy online for $99 / oz.

as sson as its legal in the UK i will stop .. who the fuck wants to do something legal?
