Movies Kurtwood Smith in Robocop or Alan Rickman in Die Hard - Who gave the better performance?

I was a little kid when Die Hard came out. When Alan Rickman started speaking in an American accent my little 9 year old brain exploded. Awesome performance.

Yes Gruber is suave and sophisticated. But if he met Clarence Boddicker? He would have been shot in the face half way through making an eloquent speech about how superior he is. Boddicker was a horrible, merciless arsehole and I loved it.

Rickman's character is more complex although Smith's is hilarious. I go with Rickman for the chops.
