Kung Fu crisis in China and Hong Kong...

So is boxing for the rest of the world but champs or successful boxers are celebrated since most of them came from poor backgrounds. What about in China? I know they're still in the early stages to be even considered as a powerhouse, but is boxing gaining popularity?
There was one boxer a few years ago in some commercials, Chinese prefer actors/singers or football/nba stars.

The rest are a waaay off even ping pong and badminton players.

Most people here look up to the wealthy and beautiful who barely life a finger, that’s the dream, not some knuckle head getting his face mushed up.

Which honestly is the correct ideal

I believe Kung Fu got Mac dojo'd more than a century ago. Probably before the Cultural Revolution.

The Chinese mass produced in poor quality and through Chinese whispers many truths were lost. Chi for example being a near magical thing rather than breathing to tense the core so as to push off of during strikes.

Chinas only had 3 World Champions in its boxing history.
Xu Can is the current WBA "Regular" featherweight champion, while Leo Santa Cruz is the real WBA Featherweight Champion.
But that is their most recent and only current world champion.

Yep, never heard of them and I’m always reading sports over here

There's a slick kung fu script here somewhere. "Sensei Seagal, only you can save kung fu."

Didn't you all see ip man 4.? Donnie yen beat up that karate Sargent Scott Adkins with kung fu. Practically saving wing chun from being wiped out by the rascist white man. Now in America we have panda express.

But 4 real.
When donnie yen or Jackie chan dies then kung fu will be really dead. Sad face

Seriously, Jackie is gonna live to 100.

I know hes had crazy lots of injuries, but mostly superficial, those Asian genetics and healthy livin will see him to a century.

Therell be at least 3 more Rush hours.

We've got a long time before JC goes.

people are worried that its going to disappear entirely.
It already is lost entirely. Kung fu is supposed to be a martial art. Martial arts are used for fighting. When you watch kung fu, it's blatantly obvious no one uses this shit to fight with. Ergo, the martial arts that Chinese people actually used to fight each other with hundreds of years ago weren't these things that pass off as a "Kung Fu" today. I don't know how this bullshit was created or its history but I know with common fucking sense that it isn't what Chinese martial artists were doing and using in real fights hundreds of years ago. That shit is the real Kung Fu and it is already lost to history, disappeared entirely.

My best guess as to what happened is that for whatever reason, people stopped using these martial arts in real fights. Imagine if no one actually had any boxing matches for 100 years and, being in the age before technology, there was no video footage of real boxing matches. In 100 years, all of boxing would just be boxercise classes acting like badasses. Real boxing and all its intricacies would be gone forever. Boxercise would be all that remains and boxercise isn't boxing nor is it a martial art. I don't know Kung Fu's history but when I see "Kung Fu" that looks like what happened to me.

you need practical skills for the streets, like stabbing or shooting motherfuckers, or bjj to choke motherfuckers

this isnt very practical
But people did actually used to use Kung Fu in the streets.. which if you used common fucking sense would tell you that whatever is passed off as Kung Fu today isn't actually Kung Fu. That shit is already gone, lost to history.

Some people in less developed places like The Heavies still think I'm Azn bro

I’m shocked people that people think your Asian actually being a thing, as I’ve seen it multiple times in this forum

They really think it’s you and not imanari in your av, lol

They should combine kung fu with pornography.

This is true and the direct reason for it is that martial arts were outlawed and known practitioners were killed when the communists took power. I'm mostly saying this for everyone else in the thread, you seem to already have a background knowledge.

Is Japan having similar problems like China in keeping their martial arts style alive?

Yes, but for different reasons and not as bad. Kung Fu is literally gone. The stuff that tries to pass itself as "Kung Fu" today isn't Kung Fu. Japanese styles are very much still alive, just getting watered down. One example is that Judo changed its rules to be fun to watch on TV at the olympics. All of BJJ's ground game used to be part of Judo; now it's gone. Judo makes more money as a result but lost its integrity as a martial art too.

Big worries for masters because less and less people are training in it and they cant find any young people that want to train in Kung Fu. Right now all the young folks go to kickboxing or MMA and lots of kwoons (dojo for kung fu) are having a hard time keeping their doors open because no one is showing up.

Videos being made and people are worried that its going to disappear entirely.

good

I know people can say the same of guys like Freddy Roach or Nacho Beristain, but that wing chun master looks like your typical DBZ nerd.
lol freddy roach and 80 yr old nacho would beat the crap out of kung fu guys even in their old age.
