Khalil Rountree won the first two rounds against Alex Pereira

Nah. Rountree landed the better harder shots in those rounds.
He landed exactly two shots of consequence, and one of them is even debatable (when Pereira spun himself around and Roundtree almost punched him in the back of the head). Pereira jumped right up and looked unphased.

And I'm sorry but that headkick at the end of round 2 is not enough to steal the round.

confirmation bias much? pretty sure only one fighter got dropped in this fight & it wasn’t Rountree.

this was a great fight from both fighters. anyone who walked away from this not impressed by both Poatan & Rountree is a dunce & should go stand in the corner.

Huh?

Rountree got dropped. It's ahh, how the fight ended. Finally had too much and crumpled to the ground.

Rountree is what most people with a clue though he was before the fight: a dangerous guy but a problem that an elite fighter is likely to solve.

2-1 Rountree going into the 4th.

that’s not a knockdown.

Uneducated judges rewarding a fighter hitting air with his punches. Wasn't surprised to see trashcan Derek Cleary involved in that. Guy should have been banned from scoring MMA fights ages ago.

Your prob the only person who finds these particular scorecards controversial

Poatan was never rocked or visibly hurt
The forearm shot did nothing, the head kick he ate like a mid day snack
Rounone, Rountwo, Rountree and Rounfour
Yeah I really agree.

I think Rountree did really well but he did not win one round for me, he took more damage, Alex controlled the cage better and did what he wanted the whole fight.

It's the underdog effect : people expected him to get destroyed so the second he does a little better, they think that he is winning !

He was never in danger? He was down 2-0 on the scorecards... if he didn't turn it on he was about to lose.
I strongly disagree with the 2-0 scores, but let's set those aside for a minute: He still was in no danger. Why? Because Roundtree was given those 2 rounds by inept, uneducated judges that rewarded him for throwing a bunch of punches and hitting air.

If you look at the actual stats, Pereira out-landed Roundtree in both rounds 1 & 2.

Roundtree was emptying his gas tank to win those two rounds. That kind of effort was unsustainable. You could clearly see it in round 3 that Roundtree was slowing down. He wasn't winning rounds 4 & 5 under any circumstance (outside of scoring a big knockdown or KO/TKO).

Round 1? A lot more people agree with you. Round 2? Definitely not. Quite a few people believe the headkick at the end of round 2 was not enough to give Roundtree that round.

poor guy has never heard of disguising strikes w/ strikes
IDK what crack you're smoking, but throwing a bunch of punches and hitting air shouldn't be winning rounds.

The numbers say Pereira outlanded Roundtree in every round. All you have are qualitative arguments.

I mean I knew even when rd 2 ended that its going to get hard from this point on.

But he still won them rounds

Aw yea

that’s not a knockdown.

According to who? The official stats actually credit Pereira with a knockdown, and not Rountree.

MMA isn't boxing. In MMA, the fighter must be "debilitated for a significant amount of time". If you think Pereira barely touching the ground is a knockdown and Rountree folding to the mat permanently as a way to say "I'm done" isn't one, not sure what to tell you. Watch boxing instead?

Holy shit this is gold lol

Anderson Silva wouldn't never had lose two rounds by a pure unidimensional short striker like Routree in his prime
