Media Khabib & Tony Ferguson HEATED Back n Forth TODAY

Khabib’s not wrong but no one thought Tony would dominate him but thought he had the best chance of anyone to catch him with an unexpected strike or what not

It was always unlikely but still a shame we never found out

Biggest fight that never happened, who would had won during that time? Probably Khabib, but we will never know.

Anyone else still sad we never got this fight?
Most cursed fight in UFC history

If you're as dumb as Eddie Bravo and Joe Rogan, of course you think Tony had a chance.
"DANGEROUS guard!! Throws up craaaazy submissions off his back!!!"
Any version of Khabib beats any version of Tony.

Outside of a lucky punch.

It would have been an absolute mauling. People got excited by Tony being an aggressive fighter but there was never any time that this was a legitimately compelling matchup imo
I still remember the sherdog debates on Khabib v Tony back in 2018/2019,.....whenever we asked Tony fans exactly what Tony's path to victory was, it always came down to "elbows from the bottom" once all the other arguments were debunked,...we started calling it the "magic elbows" theory lol.

It was always just cope, Khabib was a terrible matchup for Tony.

Yes, yes I am still mad we never got to see this

Not nearly as mad as Rickson vs Sakuraba

They both need to let’s this go , talking about each other is a little embarrassing

I remember a couple of posters coming at me because I was adamant that Khabib would win every round, or perhaps give Tony a round by taking a breather

My prediction was, If Tony tries his mad shit and use any offense from bottom? He would be smashed and submitted early

Personally I think khabib would have submitted him in the 4th while having his way, systematically breaking him down

He was a different class. Tony was the cat with 9 lives that edged through fights with his toughness and conditioning. That meant nothing for khabib

It was always legitimately compelling because of the undefeated win-streaks from both, but in hindsight people over-rated Tony's guard/ground game.

Still one of those fights where regardless of how it went we really needed/deserved to see it....add it to the pantheon of lost fights that we'll forever be sad about missing out on i.e. Randy/Fedor, Randy/Cro Cop, Brock/Fedor, GSP/Anderson, Aldo/Pettis, Ngannou/Jones

Tony showed up as agreed and made weight.
Khabib went to the hospital. So much for GOAT talk.

I'm not sure if Khabib would've submitted him because Tony is durable as shit when it comes to subs. I thought it would go down pretty much like the Barboza fight. A 5 round ass whopping.

It's pretty much covered here. I love both Tony & Khabib and was dissapointed over and over when it kept falling through.

But yea...Tony would have been annihilated by Khabibi, his ground game, takedown defense is pretty much non-existent, and was vastly overrated at the time, as people legitimately thought he posed a threat to Khabib of the back. Tony is also not a KO artist, cumulative damage is what setup his wins, and against Khabib that would have been super tough. His best qualities just didn't really help him in that fight.
I still would have loved to see it though.

I knew Tony had no chance against Khabib because of how he performed against Kevin Lee, he subbed Kevin Lee but the first 2 rounds of that fight were completely memory holed by fans, he was getting dominated on the ground from a control perspective. Very bad sign against Khabib.

I'm pretty sure now the dust is settled Khabib would've destroyed the Tony that fought Gaethje. But if the fight came together when they were first supposed to fight, it would be cool to see Tony's cardio and game off his back test Khabib's top control. Tony wasn't the guy to just lay there and get controlled, he'd be throwing elbows or whatever he could do off his back.
LOL the Tony on his back narrative was as ridiculous as Gaethje s folkstyle narrative. Funny that people mention that shit 5 years later.
