My mistake, but your title is clickbait. There's no "heated back and forth" between them. Khabib said something to an interviewer, some random MMA Twitter account posted a clip, Tony posted some Michael Jackson song clip on Instagram. Where is Khabib's response to this?

I knew Tony had no chance against Khabib because of how he performed against Kevin Lee, he subbed Kevin Lee but the first 2 rounds of that fight were completely memory holed by fans, he was getting dominated on the ground from a control perspective. Very bad sign against Khabib.

I truly believed Khabib was going to maul Tony and shock everyone, but that doesn't mean I still didn't want to see it and think it needed to happen based on the division.

Honestly, it was Danny Castillo getting a bunch of takedowns and control time early on against Tony was the real warning sign....it's not like Tony was working on or improving his wrestling at that point it seems.

I'm pretty sure now the dust is settled Khabib would've destroyed the Tony that fought Gaethje. But if the fight came together when they were first supposed to fight, it would be cool to see Tony's cardio and game off his back test Khabib's top control. Tony wasn't the guy to just lay there and get controlled, he'd be throwing elbows or whatever he could do off his back.

The only thing Tony would have been doing off his back is getting destroyed hahah.

I love the idea everyone used to have that Tony would butcher him from the bottom with elbows and create all these amazing scrambles that Khabib would struggle with. None of that would have happened. He would have gotten completely controlled and finished easily.

I'm not sad in the least that their fight never transpired. It would've been a let down due the fight being one sided imo.

It would have been an absolute mauling. People got excited by Tony being an aggressive fighter but there was never any time that this was a legitimately compelling matchup imo

We didn't think that because Tony was just an aggressive fighter. We thought that because his grappling, also off his back was regarded as arguably his best skill set in addition to his aggressive striking. But yeah probably woudnt have been enough. The Castillo fight is a good mention.

Ufc was pushing this narrative about Tony off his back but in actuality, most of his success with subs was from the top. His sole sub from his guard was against Lee.

Tony was hyper aggressive. He was very fun to watch. But he has always struggled against strong wrestle heavy grapplers

This would be the only fight that Tony should be booked in going forward............ reason being because we know it will never ever happen lol, must cursed and doomed fight in history, cancelled every time, so I hope they just book Tony vs Khabib so we don't have to see Tony fight anyone else in UFC, and we can just play the dejavu loop every year safely knowing Tony won't get hurt anymore.
