Media Khabib has broke down Leon Edwards' whole MMA game, given Belal the master gameplan

Every fighters team does the same thing for them. This isn’t anything new.

Different coaches, different perspectives.

Khabib is a terrific coach himself. I'm sure his gameplan is different than that of Colby's camp.
“Ok game plan … run in and go for take down.

If he gets away .. run in flying knee into takedown.

If he gets away … throw Fake takedown into overhand right then takedown again.

Don’t worry about his striking brother. Just have a good chin and endless cardio like me.”

Belal has a faster pace than both Usman and Colby.

Eh? Colby was notorious for pushing such a fast pace it overwhelmed opponents. The trouble is that doesn’t necessarily work against rangy counter strikers who have great distance management and timing. Because you just walk on to things and then suddenly get a lot more tentative and start biting on feints, which then slows your pace. Not sure how Belal gets around that issue without getting hit badly.
Edwards has been terrible late in some fights lol. Was beating up Gunni then gets mounted in last round and elbowed in the face. Ends up on bottom vs Colby in the last round too. Almost got KOed by Diaz in the last round..

Yep, for sure. It’s one of his biggest weaknesses. A combination of tiredness and lack of concentration seems to slip in sometimes when the finish line is close. Didn’t happen against Usman though. I suspect a better opponent/closer fight prevents that complacency. Dangerous habit though.

How different WW could look like if Usman blocked that kick.

I doubt they would give Edwards a rematch since he doesn’t have a strong fan base or exciting style.

That was definitely Edward’s stealing a fight in the last round despite him struggling against Diaz and Colby in their final rounds.

Khabib: I'd go for the takedown

Belal:

I meant "likely" just in that it would be perceived as higher than 50%. We're talking about absolute prime Khabib vs pre-prime Leon.

Again, we're talking about the Edwards who was coming off decision wins over RDA, Gunnar Nelson & Cowboy. Not today's Edwards. A prime Khabib bulked up a bit & with a minimal weight cut absolutely had a very good chance to beat that Edwards.

Never said the fight was a slam dunk "easy win" for either guy, but there's definitely a lot on tape to like Khabib's chances if it happened in 2020.

Just remember how Edwards ended the Nelson fight lol, there's clearly no reason to side with him too heavily in 2020.

I can see how you believe that, I just see it differently. Khabib is 5'10" with a 70" reach while Leon is 6' with a 74" reach. Khabib was able to manhandle Conor due to a huge disparity in grappling skill while having 2" in height and being a larger man frame wise.

Leon is a larger man then any of Khabib's opponents and going to decision tell us nothing about a fighter's ability to win other than they have a style that lends itself to that or they don't have natural one shot power. Decision win over RDA also applies to Khabib.

Anyway it is a Fantasy match up that will never happen and was never even a consideration to be made.

If I’m not mistaken, 9 of them in pro bouts. But as sherdoggers would say, those were Dagestani cab drivers.

Edit:
I stand corrected, it is 11.
Were they WWs or fights at WW? Conor has 2 wins over WW greats Cerrone and Diaz. Sam Stout and KJ Noons fought at WW. When I say WWs I mean fighters whose lowest possible weight they can perform at while at the highest level. There is a reason Khabib fought at 155 lbs and not 170 lbs.

Technically I could fight at HW right now. But if I was an athlete and was going to fight I would likely be a LW or FW. As it stands I am the Shorter White "Out of Camp Rampage" with no power or wrestling or striking.

Let's see if it pays off. If Belal wins might have to start putting Khabib in the GOAT coach conversation.

surprised no one ever thought of the "ask another famous fighter for advice" trick until now. hope this secret doesn't get out

Broke it down = told remember da name to spam takedowns and hope Leon can't get up (spoiler: he will do, he's hard to hold down).
