Keosawa's Powerlifting Log

How are you calculating the force of the bands at the top?

By measuring the distance, then, after I'm done training, flipping the bands and hanging dumbbells from them until the band stretches the same distance. At this point, I've used my short mini-bands enough to know about how much I'm getting at the top with different setups.

That's pretty smart.

My squats felt better this week; unfortunately, my camera's out of battery and I left my charger in Iowa City, so I couldn't film these. I was supposed to do 410, but the bulldog collars I'm using this week are pretty heavy, so I included them in the total weight. They're these: Bulldog Power Clamp Collars pair: Amazon.com: Sports & Outdoors

This says they're three pounds per set, so I'll just call these sets of 413.

you mean I don't get to do any mirin' from afar? Crap. I wanted video... for entirely educational purposes, of course.

Another way to measure it is to keep note of the height, step on a scale, have someone step on the bands (or wrap it under the scale) and lift the band to the desired height. Then subtract your actual bodyweight from the indication on the scale.

I've actually have wondered this here and there, is the act of squatting and deadlifting attractive to a female?

I know! I really wanted to film this squat session, but it wasn't to be.

Clever. I hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense, and it probably expedites the process, too.

Wow, I just used those clamps today to microload but didnt know the weight. I stop in this log maybe twice a week and always come away with something. Many thanks

well, okay, let me clarify here. Watching a guy who can move serious weight and do it proficiently is really impressive to me because I KNOW the dedication it probably took to train to that point of strength, and dedication, to me, is straight up hot.

Are the movements themselves, uh, also hot? Yes. Okay, fine, yes. Everything about it is hot. I'm not supposed to be thinking this way about this in the gym, crap.

How do girls do this? how does a personality trait like dedication become sexually attractive? I'll never ever understand how your minds work.

also, given the number of girls desperately seeking attention and turning the gym into a dating pool, enjoying a look or two is okay.

Judging by the # of women that watch my partner & squat & DL in our gym, YES.

how many guys?

Frankly, most of the time when I'm watching anyone, it's because I'm hanging out between sets and want to be entertained by evaluating that individual's form/lack of it. I'd like to think that if anyone is watching me, they're doing the same thing. Yes, I'm an asshole:

I'm not and never have been at the gym with the intent of gawking at people and their physiques as one might do at a nightclub. The meat market opens at 9, head down to the bars if that's what you want to do, in my opinion.

That said, I thoroughly enjoy watching Keo do various lifts because it's goddamned awesome and every once in a while, yeah, I think about the fact that he's hot at the same time. I'm sorry Keo, it's the truth. I've tried so hard, but I can't rise above my hormones. Arrrgh, why am I posting this.

You are sorry because you find your boyfriend hot?

Well, uh, when we go in there and train it's all business. We're there to train to the fullest potential and every session counts. We don't really have time to be screwing around/not taking it seriously, and that typically means that our mindsets are entirely, 100% on lifting. No question. Well, for me it's this way 95% of the time. Keo claims that for him it is 100%.

That's okay, I get to torment Keo quite a bit outside of the gym. A few hours of srs bsnss is fine. (I seriously ogle him during that 5%. Don't tell him that. No one tell him that)

Once you step in the gym, the only feelings you're supposed to have are killing it, and motivation-shame. It's only common sense.

This, damnit. I will conquer my instincts and rise to this level some day.
