Keosawa's Powerlifting Log

This, damnit. I will conquer my instincts and rise to this level some day.

Don't worry your his gf, so it's acceptable to find his strength feats attractive. Me on the other hand...well that's just weird.

I'm a stupid drunk idiot trolling on sherdog right now because I had a rough day at work so disregard my semi gay joke.

I squat 413 for 21 total repetitions--the total volume at this weight is probably four times' my previous PR for a single session--and I come back to a page and a half of mirin'...

...But not of my squat numbers!

To respond, yes, I am an unfeeling robot when I am training. But when I get home, BE, you're really in for it now.

I'm a pretty ugly guy, but in the gym I reach new depths of my troll-like qualities. Sweating, breathing heavy, red marks all over my back/shins/chest from the bar, burping you name it. I've had literally 2 women say things to me at the gym and it's usually "Can I take the 5kg plates?" with a look of terror in their eyes. I can only imagine the mental preparation they must have undergone to come anywhere near me, I imagine it's akin to approaching a wounded bear in the wild.

So the above blows my mind. People in gyms can be hot? Whodathunkit.

Sorry for clogging up your log with nonsense. Your squatting was very impressive. You as your volume are very hot.

I've really had trouble with my bench press since coming back to Rhode Island, and it took me some time to get into these sets, but they got progressively better. I had more in the tank on my last set, but I played it conservatively and racked it after five. I'll be happy to get back to Iowa City, where my familiarity with the bench press equipment makes a real difference.

This was my final training session in RI, and because I didn't have my regular reverse bands, I just used my short minis and dropped the box height another inch. I also kept the weight down, since my back's been tight these past couple of weeks from the extra volume.

Anyway, I fly back to Iowa today, where I'll enjoy a big cheat meal for my birthday with the wonderful Babyeater to keep my company.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I really appreciate it. Babyeater and my training partner got me an awesome pair of olympic weightlifting shoes, and I get to try them out today for benching. I'm really excited to finally retire my wrestling shoes for squatting and benching. These feel a million times' more stable, and the raised heel will really help me.

My lockout felt solid on this day, but my speed really wasn't there, particularly on my block pulls, so I really struggled with 575 and didn't get it much above my knees. I think all the squat volume will slow my pull down a little, but as long as I can still put up solid numbers deadlifting every week, the net gain will be worth it. I still feel like I could have pulled 560 from the floor on this day.

Also, I trained with Jake on this day. Neither of us could hit our big PR attempts, but it was still a good session. Jake takes his training very seriously and is just the sort of person I like to have around when I'm training.

What brand of oly shoes, sir ?

It was awesome training with you, man. We will definitely have to do it again. I probably won't be able to make it in tomorrow because winning the national championship today took a lot out of me but I will be back down sometime this fall.

Strongman? Your athletes ? Something between unrelated?

Thanks!
