Karate blackbelt Jesse Enkamp demonstrates why BJJ does not work

I understand what you’re trying to say but boxing is a terrible example. If you’re not throwing punches you’re gonna get pounded.
Its pretty hard to punch someone that is running away from you.

If you have good cardio and a gun, the bases are pretty much covered imo. No martial arts needed. Just run away, and if that doesn't work - there's the gun.

Pressure points are just points of the body with more noziception. It can be tendons, nerves surfacing or most efficient parts of the body associated with an internal organ. You know what the best pressure point MA is by far? Boxing and mt. Because you actually learn to hit them in a fight. liver, kidney, solar plexus, sinus carrotis reflex, your face, ear, neck...etc. Everything else is mumbojumbo nonsense cosplaying "ancient" touch up. I let one time in my twenties a strong pressure point "fighter" stay static and deactivate me allowin g him to go full force. He used the ellbow were N. radialis surfaces. Hurt like hell but who cares I could still do everythign I wanted with him and he was only able to get that point because I allowed it.

To really use a pressure point you need punches / kicks or on the ground chokes,..etc and then you need entries aka sparring aka fight experience. aka punch skills

Yep I always have to laugh when TMA coaches talk about a wrestler being helpless on the streets. A Tai Chi Master told me that as did my KArate teachers and especially Kernspecht and other Wing Chun guys made even fun of it being too easy to defeat etc. They really have no clue at all how out of this world a wrestlers agility, pain threshold, speed , stamina is and how destructive normal wrestling skills are in a normal environment not even thinking about concrete underground. The Gracies also always belittled wrestling for that. Absurd. I rather face anyone else in a real fight than a wrestler.

Nope Enkamp is not a Newbie. Thats why I wrote he creates false narratives by design to trigger people. Really just a classic asshole. First he earns money by training Karate so his fitness is a lot better than the other guy and he has extensive training in Judo and BJJ together with Karate.

Enkamp is a fake as it gets YT personality.
I didn't had to bother watch this one.
My advice ; enroll in MD program and finish first 2.5 years.
Will be good basics about vulnerable points and without belts.

All is dependent on the skill of the people involved and the violence they are willing to do.
Look at the very first UFCs.

And even they had a couple of rules.

It's not like traditional martial arts in most cases prepares you for all types of fights especially no rules.

I remember old school BJJ when they actually went for takedowns and control on top. Before everyone would just sit down to butt scoot.

Karate is stupid and the only parts of it that work are in other combat sports that actually do.

How many MMA fighters, other than Lyoto Machida, are opening fucking Karate schools? Or even have adult karate on the curriculum.
And you want to talk about COPE? It's all you TMA dorks do, is make up stupid delusional scenarios on how and why Karate actually matters to anyone besides cultists who actually bought in to this crap.
Wonder boy, idk if chuck Liddell is opening his own school, but I’ll bet he still trains and teaches at the dojo that he trained in all the way through his MMA career…you don’t even actually know who the big names in MMA that are karate fighters do you?

i hung out at an event Chuck was at last year and he’s a zombie.
Wonderboy’s a good call. We’ve got one guy. Care to name a few others?

GSP trained in kyokushin

I'm not really sure the point he is trying to make? That if you enter BJJ competition and avoid doing any BJJ then it proves it doesn't work? Competitions are just a place where you can test your skills etc against other practitioner's in a controlled environment.

He then goes on to win the fight by using BJJ. It's a stupid video. He obviously trains it as his brother is s professional fighter. So I'm sure he can hold his own against blue belts at least. It's just a poorly thought out disingenuous video.

It would be like claiming that no one could beat you in a chess game, then when someone challenges you, you just sit there and refuse to move any pieces. But instead of challenging a grand master chess player, you challenge someone who has been playing for 6 months and it's their first competition, just incase you are made to play, so you know you can still win.

Bizzare video

Funnily enough, 10 years ago I entered a Karate competition without any karate training, having never done a Karate lesson and won gold in the blackbelt category...true story.

GSP is a karate combat ambassador, Bas rutten is the face of karate combat.

not in the UFC or anything but the grandson of morio higaonna has fought professionally and teaches in his grandfather’s dojo.

I just love the ‘karate doesn’t work’ line meanwhile some of the biggest names in kickboxing and MMA have been lifelong karateka.

He was highlighting the stupid rules of the competition circuit, and compares them to the stupid rules in karate point fighting.

It’s a bit of a joke, and a bit of a warning to the BJJ community at large is my take on it.
Anyone who has regularly watched his content over the years knows he can take it when people mock karate and him specifically. Icy mike did a whole video making fun of karate and Jesse. Jesse did a zoom call type video with mike, and eventually went to RKM where they collaborated on several videos on both channels.

he went to Thailand and sparred a former #1 lumpinee stadium champion ‘to end the rivalry once and for all’ got rag dolled, and made a joke of it in the video.

Those guys all used other disciplines more effectively than Karate.
Wonderboy was a kickboxer with a karate stance
GSP went to Zahabi and Danaher, the former being a karate blackbelt who says its inferior to other striking arts, to develop a grappling-based gameplan.
Bas was around before Karate got exposed as inefficient.

“Karate doesnt work” means if you like up a tournament of fighters and let them fight each other, Karate is going to be the least efficient. Not debatable.

if you took the best boxer in the world and the best karate fighter in the world respective in size, the Karate fighter is getting totally obliterate 9 times out of 10. I dont want to waste my time practicing something that will get me killed 90% of the time.

what’s your level of training in any of these disciplines btw? I’ve trained in and competed in them all for 25 years so i’m obviously just talking out of my ass

Karate styles does have some grappling. Usually guys aren't willing to do this.

As for striking art I don't see karate as ineffective at all. If we are talking about stuff to deliver punches and kicks.
Stuff really is devastating if taught properly, for example instead of air pushing is used heavy bag.
Because the same terchnique in general is used in ALL striking arts. If we talk about punches with closed fist.

IMHO usually stuff in boxing abot to avoid head punches and to deliver hooks and half hooks in boxing is ,,,,better.
Karate punches and kicks ineffective? Some ppl in graveyards will not agree.
For example solar plexus punch will be approx the same ( if with closed fist ) as from pro boxer while with bare hand etc.

Jesus fucking christ TMA Fanboys are so delusional.
You people live in make-believe world

So because they crossed trained like literally every other fighter it’s invalidated?

that’s really stupid.

Rules of the fight make a big difference.

but ok, if boxing is so great why does every boxer who does MMA also cross train in some sort of kickboxing?

clearly boxing doesn’t work.

Boxing is very inferior to Muay Thai.
If you put the best boxer in the world against the best kickboxer, he would have way more a chance than the best Karate fighter.

Karate’s tiers of defense for not getting punched in the face is atrocious.
