Media Kamaru Usman sends mysterious tweet following Belal/Shavkat being called off

People were complaining Usman is rank squatting and waiting on a TS he hasn't earned and that he should fight a contender first. Then as soon as Usman says he is down to take Belal's place and fight Shavkat in a title eliminator, all of a sudden he's "not deserving" and needs to fight someone else. You truly can't win with some people, never change Sherdog lol.
Oh my goodness! The people saying he doesn't deserve a title shot and should stop using his position to angle for a big beneficial fight are upset that he might be getting a big beneficial interim title / title eliminator fight based solely on his position?

The hypocrisy!!

No, guy, he doesn't deserve this either. He should step back. Not inch back. He needs to take a full step back and start putting in work again.

It’s a fucking great fight. It just sucks that Usman’s gonna fight again without a righteous camp, if he takes it. Seeing the guy lose without a proper camp might be good for some moral victory if he competes well, but it would be unfortunate to see him losing again for being a company man.

Great fight tho, theoretically. Would be better if everybody had a real camp to make it fair.

Well he's got 5 weeks if they make that fight, that's a hell of a lot better than the 10 or so days he had to prepare for Chimaev & in addition to flying across the world.

Not saying he should get the fight but given his losing streak he's in no real position to complain about getting some form of a title fight on less than ideal circumstances.

Leon would be the better fight since that would've been the next fight had he beaten Belal

Maybe it's too short notice for him though

With all the talk about Usman being washed on here Shavkat should win no problem, right? If yes, what's the problem? Sounds like to me you're scared Shavkat will lose..

{<shrug}

Ho Jeez, I guess people shouldn't be upset about Umar needing to fight Cody Garbrandt first either since it should be an easy win then, huh. Except that's not how it works

'What's the problem' is that he doesn't deserve it. That's the original complaint you were responding to. I've said it 3 times now and could say it a 4th and you don't even try to give a reason he does. That ain't just moving the goal posts, it's changing the entire sport

Who else deserves it over him other than JDM and possibly Leon? No one. JDM is injured and Leon just fought so Usman is rightfully the only other guy who makes sense cause it certainly isn't Ian who had a mid performance against MVP or Sean Brady who beat a declined Burns. and certainly not fucking Colby again. Usman may not be the first choice as to who rightfully should be fighting Shavkat in an eliminator but he's the ONLY choice right now.

Why not?

He’s on a career high emotionally (he survived a fight with khazmat last time out) and deserves a title shot to be honest

How could you call Usman the "only choice" lol and you just skipped over Leon like nothing. "Leon just fought" that was the end of July, if UFC called him up right now offering an interim title shot he would probably take it in a heartbeat. I'd rather see Shavkat vs Edwards (from a meritocracy standpoint) rather than Shavkat vs Usman.

I never skipped over Leon. I mentioned him but he just fought recently in July so it's unlikely he'd want to fight again short notice, not to mention Leon vs anyone isn't exactly the first thing you'd turn to to save a card. Leon is not an exciting fighter, his last fight against Colby was boring as shit and he spent 5 rounds getting dumped on his head and wrestle fucked by Belal cause he couldn't get out of first gear. I doubt the UFC would make Leon vs Shavkat over Usman vs Shavkat even if the former was the right the thing to do cause the former would not sell PPV's like the latter would..

Really? That’s two major opportunities, but again without an equivalent opportunity to prepare. So while there’s much to gain, should he lose, it’s not like this opportunity will be quick to fall in his lap again. It’s not necessarily a great thing, and, while I like the fight, I’d rather see it with both fighters having shared the same access to preparation.

It shouldn’t be a title fight, and I don’t think it will be, it’s just a 5 rounder and presumptive #1 contender bout that oddly pits the #1 contender against an arguably unranked former champ.
