Belal might be a bad matchup for Shavkat

I dont think Belal can have the same approach with Shavkat. Shavkat will make him pay for standin in front of him too long. Gonna be a hard fight to win if he dont have some grappling success early
 
Belal has the wrestling edge, Shav is the better striker. Even though Belal has better wrestling, I think he will struggle to take down Shav. Age is also not on Belal side, 35 & older are 3-29 (1 of those wins was Woodley vs an even older Maia, so it’s only twice really) in UFC title fights from 125-170 divisions
 
Shavkat is massive and strong, with a competent submission game. Belal may have a crazy pace and can't put pressure on guys but he's not threatening with subs or power. He also isnt exactly the most sturdy when he does get positioning. Shavkat is going to have the advantage everywhere the fight goes.
 
After watching the Leon fight, it seems Belal is a bad match up for anyone in 170 division--out struck Leon on the feet where he was supposed to be at a disadvantage, wrestled fuck Leon when Usman and Colby couldn't.
 
Belal landed 59 strikes to Leon's head. A lot of those were clean to the jaw too. I expect he will be able to hit Shavkat fairly often, but not hurt him. Shavkat will have the power advantage.
 
given both have pretty good rassling, Id pick Shav for having faster hands and throwing with more intent.
Belal might be able to grind him out later rounds tho.

If Shavkat can finish Belal, I think he could be the first dominant WW reigning defending champ we’ve seen for a while. He does get hit though, and he does walk right into the fire, so that could catch up with him too. I don’t think Belal can hold him down. Shavkat seems fn strong and would scramble and reverse much more effectively than Leon was able to do. Imo I predict another finish for Shavkat.

Belal will work straight into Shavkat's gameplan. I think it will be a good fight & won't be finished quickly, but I do think Shavkat gets the sub in the 4th or 5th.
 
People starting to act like it's a foregone conclusion is starting to remind me of Yan vs Sterling.
 
Belal is one of those hard working guys with a lot of skill that is really annoying to fight and watch but Shavkat is talented. It could go either way but I think Shav finishes him.

All I know is that when Shavkat gets Muhammad down, or even takes his back. He will do a lot more than Edwards was ever able to accomplish. Shavkat is a much more lethal grappler and in the clinch.

Never went back after that.
