He brings in no battleground states, he confuses the ticket because he won't "bring in" progressive voters, it will just alienate both, as trenchant idealists like Democratic-socialists are hardliners who don't care about long-game political maneuvers, they want their uncompromising policies right now, head of the ticket, and Bernie is already a proven loser of the party, who is too old, not someone tapped because it gilds them for a potential future rise (ex. as it would be with AOC) or a follow-up candidacy. His lone silver lining from an electoral point of view is that he is more popular with rust belt white democrats and leftist independents than party mainstays like Hillary Clinton, but it would make more sense to go with a Gretchen Witmer as the VP for something like that.

It's more likely you see a younger Latino/Latina from a battleground state picked. But I don't know, they'll really scrutinize the pollster tea leaves with their typical bureaucratic fury on that one. Don't expect bold, populist moves from the Democrats. Their party right now is being run by bean counters.
