Crime Justified Shooting?

At first glance (just seeing this short clip without any additional context)...

...this doesn't seem like a justified shooting. It just looks like a few idiots throwing hands, and the black shirt&shorts guy threw a mediocre-powered punch to the green-shirt guy who didn't see it coming.

It looks like it was more of a punch that knocked green-shirt guy off-balance onto the ground. He wasn't in any serious pain because he was able to quickly draw his gun and shoot (or shoot at and miss) black shirt&shorts guy although there wasn't any additional follow-up aggression.

I'm about as 2A as it gets but this seems to be a bad shoot.

Does he actually shoot?

My opinion is that he is justified - he's just been sucker punched while fighting with someone else and now he's on the ground being attacked from who knows where. One soccer kick and this guy would be totally incapacitated.

Impossible to tell without the lead-up. Is he scrapping or trying to break up the fight when he gets sucker punched?

Does it matter?

If you are fighting with someone and a 3rd party jumps in to sucker punch you and you are on the ground, you are still justified to defend yourself against (now) multiple attackers.

Chicago had a record number number of shootings over the weekend and they have the strictest gun laws of almost any state. In the majority of "Dixie" where everyone's armed very little gun violence happens outside the cities with certain demographics. So dang right USA!! This thread isn't about "guns" per say but if the use of one in this situation was justified.
Serious question, which state has the strictest gun laws in the US? California, New York, Illinois? Here in Canada gun control was pretty alright, although restrictive by American standards, then a couple years ago Trudeau decided to begin the ban on handguns. No new ones, you can keep the ones you have (for now), and we'll inch towards no guns for all, which I truly believe is his desired end state. Not a fan of that at all.

In contrast, I was blown away how many states allow concealed carry without a permit; if memory serves Florida wasn't even one of them!

And just like that I made this thread about whether a shooting was justified or not about gun control.

Every freakin' time...

Justified. He was sucker punched and attacked by multiple assholes.

Many states are constitutional carry states In America and now Florida is one as well. And even after these states were deemed that homicides by firearms didn't really change because criminals don't follow laws and were already concealing their guns...This just allowed for law abiding citizens to do so as well. I believe the top three states with the strictest gun laws go in order from California, New York and then Illinois. Its all good and its easy to change the discussions sometime and I believe we all are guilty of that. Hopefully you guys can get rid of Trudeau and I'm imagine a lot of Canadian citizens wanted to especially during the "Pandemic".

"Just throwing hands" is how it often starts when people end up getting curb stomped. Additional context would be nice, did the guy in green somehow interject himself into that fight or was he an initial attacker, but just based on him being attacked from behind it seems like self defense to me.

No gun on the ground anywhere in the video.
Ironically, while he was falling to the ground he used his right hand to draw the gun from his right pocket... rather than brace for impact with the ground... and immediately shot his attacker although it appears there was not going to be any follow-up attacks.

This seems more like vengeance for a suckerpunch than self-defense.
It's hard to come to that conclusion. The case in Florida a few years ago that had a guy shoved to the ground for screaming at a lady "standing" in a handicapped spot was more egregious as enough time elapsed for the attacker to move backwards before he was shot. This guy drew and fired at a guy still lumbering over him.

No, we don't. To be fair, we can't really render a fair decision here and the video is so short, we've gotta make some assumptions.

Could be that he was trying to defend his girlfriend who had just been stabbed, or he could have been bullying someone and rolling in throwing punches with a gun in his hand. Would definitely be a different story.

LOOKS to me like he's a willing participant in a brawl and then relatialed to being punched by shooting, but I definitely don't know that's the case.
Never assume.
