Just got my Bas Rutten Cd's. . . . HOLY ****!!!

for those w/ the DVD, what does it have?

i found a good price on these but the guy is missing the DVD. he says there isn't much on it anyway.

If its the original DVD, its just an instructional explaining what all the numbers mean, and a demonstration for each workout using shadowboxing, the bag and pads. Watching Bas kick the bag is a thing of beauty.

Its actually on Google Video (looks like a bad rip from the VHS). I don't feel guilty giving the link if they've already brought it once.

Bas Rutten - Superior Free Fight Techniques Volume 6 - Workout MMA.

If the real reason you don't have the DVD is because you've downloaded the routines though, you're a bitch and I hope you liver gets split in two!

(I don't think posting this violates any laws as Bas had the same instructions up on his website, but I'll take it down if anyone complains. As long as nobody posts the actual workout routines it should be alright!)

its even usefull if u dont have the time to go to the gym.

i do it at home.

Me too.

I can only train at the gym twice a week due to commitments, but I use the Rutten sessions to keep up some conditioning whenever I get chance. As someone here said, all you need is the space to do it and a bucket to throw up in.

haha I would never do that to El Guapo. But thanks for the info, gonna buy the CD's for sure.

Man, this is the best fuckin workout i've ever done, and I didn't get bored for one minute.
I'm tellin ya, if you wanna get in shape, buy this shit, it's definately worth it.
Seems like everyone on here who has it said great things about it also.

old thread but great workout

we do this at our gym twice a week

Guys,

I know im reviving an old thread, but I wanted to ask you experts a question. I just recently purchased the Bas workout set, with the intentions of preparing for a competition (NAGA) that I have coming up. I currently weigh 190lbs, and im trying to get down to about 170lbs. My cardio is "so-so" (not all that great), and im dieting. As a beginner to this set, is there anything you guys would suggest me to do without having to kill myself to help me build my Cardio and shed off those unwanted pounds?

I basically have about 6 weeks to prepare, and yesterday was my first day of doing Bas' workout (I did the boxing workout, lasted 2, 2 minute rounds). As a beginner, I didnt want to just nose dive straight into the All Around Fighting workout.

Thanks guys

P.S. Bas should know that the only reason I bought his workout was because of such the good reviews he got from this thread.

I started on the boxing CD and got about 3 rounds in first time I tried it. 3 weekes later I was doing the 3 min thai rounds at a good pace.

I don't get very far on the all rounding fighting though! He starts shouting "DEFENSE!" before I'm back on my feet from the previous sprawl - and the "left, left, right" stuff on the floor kicks my ass!

If you're preparing for Naga, you really, really want to get to the workout that Dogmeat is talking about. It'll kick your butt just as hard as (Harder than, actually,.. If you're trying to lose 20 lbs, you better kick it up! :) ) any of the other 'just cardio' workouts, but the sprawl/leg out that it throws at you will be a good drill for focussing on grappling.

Agreed. Focus on the All Around Fighting and All Around Workout CDs. Skip rounds if you have to, but these are the two that'll really get you in shape quick. They'll melt the fat off of you.

Thanks for the help guys. I just recently did the Boxing workout, and this time last 6 of the 2 minute rounds. Monday i'll start the all around fighting disc, and see how that works for me. I probably wont last longer than one round, lol.

See, you're already improving! You'll be suprised how fast you get there, but don't 'crusise' if you're shadow boxing. Throw the punches with intent

I would suggest doing the Thai CD a couple of times before the All Round Fighting CD, simply because you'll want to get used to the kicking/knee combinations first. It would be a big jump to go stright from the boxing CD to the All Round Fighting and have all the new routines called out at you

(you are supposed to throw knees/kicks on the all round CD, aren't you?)

Then push yourself harder. :)

Wait until your conditioning is at the point where you can complete the All Around Workout! 29 minutes without rest.

That's the mark of a hero. :icon_chee

Go become a hero!

i just did the workout for the first time. it was fun

i did 10 rounds of the 2 minute thai boxing on a thai bag, good stuff, good stuff. round 3 i was like ha! is this the legendary workout? round 10 came around and i was bit more humbled. haha

how much harder is the all aorund workout than the thai boxing?

the all around workout is rough. no rests. hard punches with sprawling, pushups crunches, neck exercises.....its good stuff for sure. wait till you can do the 3min rounds with ease before you move to the all around.

So I did my first All Around Fighting workout today. Lasted a round and a half before coming VERY VERY close to puking. The combo's were crazy, but sprawling, and then doing the leg sit outs were just like damn. Hopefully tomorrow i'll be able to make it through 2 rounds at least.

I'll keep you guys posted.

I forgot to mention guys that im down to 185lbs now (was at 190 about 1week+ ago). Training 3 times a day

Bas
Jump Rope
BJJ

as I already said you should wait until you are completely proficient at the normal round exercises before going for the all around workout. Why people think they should go from doing decent at 2 min rounds to the all around workout is beyond me. Do the 2 min rounds until you can complete them with no rest with energy to spare once you are done. Then go to the 3min rounds looking for the same end result. THEN go for the all around workout. You are not getting everything you could out of the tapes by skipping around. While doing 2 rounds of the all around workout will surely get you super tired and you will get a nice sweat you are still only working out for like 5-6 min total. Not worth it. just my 2 cents

Maintenance invoked double, see below for Post. :icon_chee

The first two CD's are like a 'warm-up' compared to the last two. 2 minute rounds of thai boxing are a 'component' of the All around workout.

The difficulty generally goes Boxing -> Muay Thai -> All around Fighting -> All around workout.

To give you a feel for the difference, the Muay Thai is full shadowboxing, with knees, for 2 minutes and 1 minute rest... The all around workout would be two minutes shadowboxing, with knees, followed by 30 seconds of pushups, 30 seconds of sit-ups, 45 seconds of mountain climbers, another minute of shadowboxing, jump up with your knees to your chest 10 times, throw ten right knees, ten left knees, 30 seconds of pushups, 30 seconds of jumping lunges, repeat ad nauseam for half an hour with zero rest period.

The biggest thing with these workouts is that you DO only get out what you put into them. It's easy to cheek by with 5-8 pushups in each thirty second block, but if you set a goal and say 'At Least' 15 pushups each and every time, it gets much harder. Also, shadowbox like the air raped your girlfriend. It deserves your hate.

So I just got the CDs delivered today and i put up a 70lb heavy bag that i've had for years in my room. Right now its on a chain and swivel but it swings way to much for me to use with the workout. Would a heavy bag spring like this :

Heavy Bag Springs

cut down on the swinging or is there something else I could do.
