At this point I don't care who you think cheated, who wanted a way out, who was winning, who was exposed, who is a dirty fighter, who was gassing, etc. There's already like 500 threads with all kinds of opinions.

The bottom is they fought less than 5 minutes. Neither fighter was close to being finished when it was stopped. Gane was a bigger challenge than many expected, though we knew Tom would have a fight like this eventually. We didn't get to see how each fighter would adjust in later rounds.

Eye Poke Gate has probably already surpassed Aspinall-Jones Duck Gate and Grease Gate (GSP vs. Penn 2 for those who remember it) in terms of drama, debates and opinions. Let's just wait for part 2.

I agree with everything you say but I'll be surprised if they book a rematch any time soon. If Tom's vision is really as bad as he and his dad are saying, he's going to want to take a lot of time off. I'd be terrified of going blind and think fighting isnt worth that. He's already mentioned retiring again just like he did after the knee injury against Blaydes.
If Tom quit in a moment of panic because the fight wasn't going his way and making all these cringe videos to justify it, it will be hard to suddenly reverse course.

He is assuming Aspinall will fight in the UFC at all and by extention therefore a rematch. Everything Aspinall has said after the fight looks to be prepping to get out of it: "I will never fight again with a damaged eye"", "I would never fight with one eye like Bisbing"

But if Aspinall still doesn't have 100% vision and/or can't spar, he's obviously not going to rebook until his vision is back and he's allowed to spar.
