JURASSIC WORLD v.2 (Dragonlord's Review)

just watched it in 3D IMAX & i gotta say it brgs back da feelz from the 1st movie and fixed the inaccuracies of the dinos w) one dialogue with fiendish Dr. Wu (cuz u know real dinos have feathers & r more like birds than reptilian lizards) (& props to ppl get the reference to fiendish Dr. Wu)
i really like the homage this movie put forth and the score by John Williams is still amazing. the plot itself was very formulaic but i enjoyed it. everything was wat a jurassic park movie was supposed to be.

& u get to see an awesome I rex vs T rex fight scene. however, the only thing i didnt like was the mosasaur popping out of the water to eat the I rex. thats bs if it can hop out of the water like that. (if it can do that, then it can totally eat the ppl @ the amusement park)

my advice to ppl watching the movie is enjoy the generic plot & acting & stay for the action/suspense. turn off ur brains & ull have an awesome time.

I really enjoyed it and the end fight loved how it was done.

also dat bryce dallas howard

Chris Pratt is the new Sam Worthington, very hot property now but in 3 years no one will remember his name.

SW has 3-4 Avatar sequels happening so he'll be remembered in a couple years. Guy is set for life and this generations Mark Hamill.

wonder if i'll be as underwhelmed by this as i was mad max? cause so far the 2 films i was looking forward to have not real impressed me.

I think this movie will make more than $125 million this weekend. Passed by the theatre and the line went all the way to the back parking lot. Demographic was mixed too with teenagers and adults.

There were tons of teenagers and kids in the theatre when I watched. 20% were under 10, 40% were 13 ~ 16. I'm surprised by that attendance. But it's probably because we are having our school break. I'm not sure about other countries.

Every single time slot was fully seated as well. I expect it to do well in box office as well.

The human characters might have been a failure but fortunately the Indominus Rex shines through. A hybrid from dinosaur and animal gene mixing, the Indominus Rex is a terrific, unstoppable villain that provides a great deal of scary moments. The execution for the "domesticated" Raptors concept was well done and believable. Though it's been shown in the trailers, Pratt riding with the Raptors to battle was still badass. The CGI effects are superb and the exhilarating third act is a monster mash mayhem heaven.

He didn't ride WITH the raptors, if he had it would have looked like.

I'm going to see it tonight. I'm not worried about the human characters falling flat, I just want to see that giant sea monster eating a fucking shark.

Saw the movie last night and it may take a rematch for me to give a proper rating as I always have a good vibe/ movie watching experience at the theater.
I feel it was better than Age of Ultron but the story definitely struggled a bit.
(I can see why whedon went all feminist about Howard being a bitchy girl and Pratt being the ever loving male.)

The kids characters were annoying but their acting never took me out of the movie.

I thought the young kid had autism for a bit. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Overall I would recommend watching it in the theaters but I'm a bit bias as I loved JP and dinosaurs as long as I can remember.
I used to play Jp on super Nintendo, I think, and it was like the first game I.played with friendly fire.
My GF loved it and she hates these kind of movies.

6/10 seems about right from the reviews I heard, not great but not terrible

Critics' Reviews for JURASSIC WORLD

Rotten Tomatoes: 71% Approval Rating (125 out of 177 critics like it)

Consensus: Jurassic World can't match the original for sheer inventiveness and impact, but it works in its own right as an entertaining -- and visually dazzling -- popcorn thriller.

Entertainment Weekly - B+
Jurassic World is a blockbuster of its moment. It’s not deep. There aren’t new lessons to be learned. And the film’s flesh-and-blood actors are basically glamorized extras. But when it comes to serving up a smorgasbord of bloody dino mayhem, it accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do beautifully. And while the new Jurassic World pales next to the awe-inspiring spectacle of the original, it’s easily the franchise’s most thrilling sequel yet.

New York Daily News - 3/5
Director Colin Trevorrow never manages to capture that Spielbergian sense of wonder — could anyone? — but he proves himself a more-than-adequate purveyor of cinematic mayhem. For much of its running time, “Jurassic World” plays like a great theme park ride. In an age of blockbusters that lumber like herbivores, it’s refreshing to see a movie as lean and mean as a velociraptor. “Jurassic World” is frequently silly and self-indulgent, but it works more often than not.

Rolling Stone - 3/4
It's not the cynical, cash-in cheesefest you feared. OK, Jurassic World is a little of that. But it's got a wicked streak of subversive attitude that goes by the name of Colin Trevorrow. So does Trevorrow, who recaptures the thrilling spirit of the Spielberg original with fresh provocation: Is bigger always better, or is it an empty, soulless thing ready to bite us on the ass? Jurassic World will scare the hell out of you, and not just for the obvious reasons.

James Berardinelli - 3/4
Jurassic World leaves open the door for future installments but, while this is an enjoyable popcorn experience, it works best as a stand-alone follow-up. Trevorrow and his co-screenwriters deserve credit for milking two more worthwhile hours out of the Jurassic Park idea but there's nowhere else for the concept to go. It's played out. For now, there's only Jurassic World, which has taken the fossilized remains of a beloved franchise and given it a new life than many doubtlessly thought impossible.

This one is much better than JP2 and JP3 from what I heard however

Saw it last night with some whiskey gingers. Has it's moments but is also cliche ridden.

*Mild Spoilers* In a nice touch, the title character dinosaurs have lots to do and don't take a back seat to the humans like in Godzilla or Transformers. The general storyline of a killer hybrid dinosaur given extra abilities smacks of SyFy movie. As does the tired, "let's weaponize" them aspect.
*End Spoilers*

I'd put it behind Jurassic Park 3 which I find to be funny, scary, the practical dinosaurs so well done and they're so mean and vicious! But way ahead of part 2/Lost World.

Scrolled fast to avoid spoilers/opinions. Going to see this tonight in true IMAX and can't fucking wait. One of my most anticipated movies of the year. Genuinely concerned I might have a lump in my throat seeing the park while the theme plays again. Like a million other kids, I wore out my JP vhs and that theme is a nostalgia overload for me.

Did anyone else notice sausage tits from season one of the ultimate fighter as one of the baddies?

Yeah ,Sam Hoger, last thread. There's also Tait Fletcher(Season 3 TUF?) He shoots a winged dinosaur and laughs.

7/10 pretty much what I expected it to be. I'd say better than 3 and probably tied with 2.

Trex vs IRex was awesome, I wish it would of been in daytime though, could barely even see the Trex in the little screen time he had.

Dialogue was very cringe worthy for most of the movie.

I'm gonna assume that there is a hotel for the guests on the island, so why did they have everybody bunched up outside? If I heard that there were some dinos loose, I would head straight for my hotel room.

Is it just me, or did they use the main theme song in the weirdest parts of the movie? It wasnt used at all when anything epic was happening. It was like they knew it needed to be part of the movie, but they didnt know where to put it so they just threw it in random places. Usually the JP theme gives me the chills whenever I hear it, but not in this movie.

Vincent Donofrio's character was my least favorite part of the movie. Just your typical military movie baddie.

Bryce Dallas Howard would get it

Hopefully going to see this tomorrow w/ the wifey, but she hasn't seen AoU yet. Debating which we should go for since I caught AoU earlier. For those that watched it and feel that it didn't live up to very high expectations, is it at least a worthy popcorn flick for those that watched the original when we were teens?
