Sorry about that. It just irritates me when people say Get Out it is just a knock off of some other movie. There is a lot more to it.

It's a satire about the educated black male experience. It's a creepy thriller. Its tone is unlike any other movie.

Is it Best Movie of the Year? No. Is it a good movie? I certainly thought so. For a first-time director it was amazing.

As an educated black male, I am interested to see if what you've said is true. Let's see how well they capture the experience I lived...

I literally said all of that, in not so many words, in my original post.

So how am I missing the point?

I'm surprised this is nominated, it's not a bad film just not a great one. maybe I need to rewatch

I enjoyed it but if it gets best picture or something, its definitely an affirmative action vote. Its essentially a modern exploitation/grind house, which is great, but I think the hard on liberal hollywood has for films about race cause it to be overrated and given depth that really isnt there. Trust me, if the lead was latino or any other non white, people wouldnt care about this film. The black white dichotomy and culture bias in the US is very real.

Armond White has kind of turned into a meme on RT since he's known for a lot of contrarian reviews (IIRC this isn't the first time he's ruined a movie's 100% rating on RT-- I think he did it to Toy Story 3, also).
lol that is evil

If this doesn't win anything I will be surprised. One of the most original movies to come out in a long time. With amazing acting to match. If this doesn't win anything it will just further prove how racist Hollywood is.

Jusg watched this movie and I can't for the life of me understand why it was so praised or why it garnered any award nominations. It was nothing more than a B movie slasher film. Tons of similar movies have been made and none of them got praise like Get Out did. I feel like it only did well with critics because like so many other award nominated movies it catered to an audience. I can't be the only one who thinks this movie is overrated.

I don't think it was overrated. I thought it was well acted, well directed, and well edited. It had great pacing. I liked the social commentary. I don't think this should be categorized as a slasher film.

What should it be categorized as then? It was literally no different than any other B movie slasher film.

Slasher films require a slasher. Who was the slasher in this? The Jason movies, those are slasher films. Halloween movies, slasher films. Freddie Kruger movies, slasher films.

This was more of a thriller.

I agree. Overrated. Although I saw it after all the hype, so my expectations were high. I felt it was a good movie, not great.

Solid movie but definitely nothing spectacular.

What it did best was cash in on the anti white sentiment raging in the country. And by awarding the movie, you are agreeing with the sentiment. .. which is very important to the left.

I enjoyed the movie but the praise that it got was obviously an agenda.

The movie was good. But it was definitely overrated, in my opinion, because it made sjw critics cream their pants thinking the film is some sort of social commentary on how blacks live in fear of whites in America. They missed the whole point of the movie though. It's not the outwardly racists that blacks should fear. It's the sjw whites who are proud Obama voters that blacks should really fear.

I fully hated it and kept waiting for it to get good

And then it ended

I think the edgy people thought it was cool because it was borderline racist in a SJW world
