You wanna know why? Here's why.

It was one of the best horror films I've seen in a few years. That says more about the state of horror films than Get Out itself.

Well acted, written and directed, it blows terrible jump scare movies( aka any movie that has a demon with a stupid name) out of the water but lands about the same place any well made thriller would. In no way does it deserve the accolades it's getting.

As a horror/comedy it falls far short of films like Slither or Cabin in the Woods.

simplistic, baity movie. the fact that there's oscar talk around it is one of the most absurd things in the history of cinema.

Frankly, I found It Comes At Night to be superior in just about every way.

The movie was good. But it was definitely overrated, in my opinion, because it made sjw critics cream their pants thinking the film is some sort of social commentary on how blacks live in fear of whites in America. They missed the whole point of the movie though. It's not the outwardly racists that blacks should fear. It's the sjw whites who are proud Obama voters that blacks should really fear.

I agree, highly overrated, be prepared to be told by everyone that "You just didn't get the message" if you thought that it was overrated.

I am amazed at how people can watch a movie and miss the whole point.
Educate me please. What was the whole point of the movie? Every time this film comes up on this board, this is always mentioned.

I haven't seen it but it seems the enjoyment people get out of the film depends heavily on how they respond to the social commentary. A black friend of mine highly recommended it to me and I haven been planning on watching it because I do trust his taste in film but at the same time I'm not sure I'll respond to it as positively as he did.

#oscarssowhite

A movie doesn't need to be the best. It just needs to be quite good and diverse. Or have a SJW message.

I'm not sure why people keep referring to it as a comedy. This includes the award nominations in the comedy field. It had some funny lines, mainly the TSA agent's, but I don't see it as horror comedy.

It was a satire about race relations. TS described it as a slasher film.

Jusg watched this movie and I can't for the life of me understand why it was so praised or why it garnered any award nominations. It was nothing more than a B movie slasher film. Tons of similar movies have been made and none of them got praise like Get Out did. I feel like it only did well with critics because like so many other award nominated movies it catered to an audience. I can't be the only one who thinks this movie is overrated.

It was well acted, well written, and an original idea for a horror....it wasn’t the greatest movie ever, but it entertained me and I was glad I watched it. I don’t see the hate...the race stuff didn’t bother me because it poked the liberal bullshit, which is fine with me, because it needs to be poked...exactly the type of assholes that love to see themselves as enlightened but live only amongst whites and believe all Cop shootings are unjustified.

it was a good film. didnt even know what it was about going into the film and was pleasantly surprised, The film had quite a few genuinely creepy as hell moments.

I loved it, but it's definitely overrated.

Blade Runner 2049 is ten times the movie Get Out is, but the former is completely ignored for all the major awards categories.

The degree to which trendy sociopolitics & faux activism has completely taken over the Oscars is pretty pathetic.

I would have preferred if the leading actor was idris Elba. He was perfect for the role.

Take note, everyone who enjoyed the film is basically saying "I enjoyed it, it was well done." They're not saying they like it because they feel blacks aren't treated fairly or because they're really into social justice, they just liked it. Now let's look at who didn't like it....

Solid movie but definitely nothing spectacular.

What it did best was cash in on the anti white sentiment raging in the country. And by awarding the movie, you are agreeing with the sentiment. .. which is very important to the left.

I fully hated it and kept waiting for it to get good

And then it ended

I think the edgy people thought it was cool because it was borderline racist in a SJW world

"It's only good becaue SJW's and the anti-white agenda!" Nothing but political garbage to justify.... why you didn't like a movie. Supposedly because it catered to people you hate, yet the praise it's getting is for.... simply being an enjoyable movie.

Some people need to re-evaluate their lives and figure out why they're so filled with negativity.
