If you have seen GET OUT, how would you rate it?

If you think the movie was 10/10 you're most likely a SJW.

I think the rating was overly generous but it was still a very, very good movie. As a directorial debut he really knocked it out of the park and im really looking foward to what he can produce.

Take note, everyone who enjoyed the film is basically saying "I enjoyed it, it was well done." They're not saying they like it because they feel blacks aren't treated fairly or because they're really into social justice, they just liked it. Now let's look at who didn't like it....

"It's only good becaue SJW's and the anti-white agenda!" Nothing but political garbage to justify.... why you didn't like a movie. Supposedly because it catered to people you hate, yet the praise it's getting is for.... simply being an enjoyable movie.

Some people need to re-evaluate their lives and figure out why they're so filled with negativity.

Where did I say that I did not like the movie? I merely criticized the critics.

Why do you take any form of criticism as a personal attack on you and your personal taste for movies? Who's the one filled with negativity?

I would have preferred if the leading actor was idris Elba. He was perfect for the role.

Too old to be dating the lead in the movie IMHO.

It was well acted, well written, and an original idea for a horror....it wasn’t the greatest movie ever, but it entertained me and I was glad I watched it. I don’t see the hate...the race stuff didn’t bother me because it poked the liberal bullshit, which is fine with me, because it needs to be poked...exactly the type of assholes that love to see themselves as enlightened but live only amongst whites and believe all Cop shootings are unjustified.

A cool thing was the Asian cat, which means that the entire thing had international implications. Also the "I would have voted for Obama for a third term if I could"

I know some people can't stand Bobby Lee (I adore the fuck out of him) but this is a really cool interview especially considering how they have history because of MADTV.

I think it's an incredible movie. A lot of nuance and allegory, incredibly well shot, well acted, and Jordan did an incredible job writing and directing (for his first ever that's amazing) The twists were well executed. Finding out about the grandparents, The silent slave auction, how she got all the guys to enslave, the picking cotton to save his life, Rod saving him at the end (he was great comedic relief). Just an all and all great film.

It's weird how the allegorical race stuff makes people so uncomfortable. He had a message certainly, but it was layered in subtext and the subsequent conversation a lot of people had was great.

I loved it, but it's definitely overrated.

Blade Runner 2049 is ten times the movie Get Out is, but the former is completely ignored for all the major awards categories.

The degree to which trendy sociopolitics & faux activism has completely taken over the Oscars is pretty pathetic.
Best film of the year. Wind River is a close second.

Baby Driver was the most entertaining and polished.

You said it was good, but. As in the movie was good, BUT you took issue with it. And your issue? The aspects of racism and social justice no one in this thread is listing as the reasons they liked the movie.

LOL where did I take anything personally? Do you know what the term "personal attack" means? I was criticizing idiots who can't help but inject political negativity into their lives even when its not required. People who are supposedly sick of "all this SJW crap" yet can't help but bring it up every chance they get.

Personal attack....lol.... Honestly, do you know what those words mean?

Stick to the shitty memes.

I really loved SPLIT, might be my favorite, and I also think James McAvoy was robbed of a Best Lead Actor nom for that one.

Agree on Baby Driver, which was also robbed for Best Picture, and Best Director noms this year. Steven Spielberg said he has watched it 4 times so far, because he is so impressed. But what does he know about good filmmaking? He's not The Academy. He's only Steven FUCKING Spielberg.

Still haven't seen Wind River yet, but I will get to it soon.

Jusg watched this movie and I can't for the life of me understand why it was so praised or why it garnered any award nominations. It was nothing more than a B movie slasher film. Tons of similar movies have been made and none of them got praise like Get Out did. I feel like it only did well with critics because like so many other award nominated movies it catered to an audience. I can't be the only one who thinks this movie is overrated.
It's not a horror movie. It's satire. Don't worry, a lot of people didn't understand Robocop and Starship Troopers were also satire.

Frankly, I found It Comes At Night to be superior in just about every way.

Except the script is shit. its very well acted and directed but it being so vague doesnt insight further discussion about the movie but has the opposite type of effect.

I would say that get out is more original and better executed.

The director himself from "it comes at night" said he filmed his movie on purpose to be vague but many people hate that film for that exact reason

I love that people are saying it had an "agenda." Of course it had an agenda. That was the entire point of the film.

Mannn I fucking LOVED It Comes at Night. Went to an early screening and I was literally holding by breath the entire last minute of the film. Haven't been shook by an ending like that since The Road.

I feel we watched two different films, while i didnt hate it had a very shitty ending and im not talking about the little battle, im talking about the end

I dont know if its oscar worthy. I would initially say no but honestly i feel like the oscar picks are very weak

Crazy how subjective the arts are isn't it? Them staring at each other, knowing that it was all for nothing, covered in the sores. Loved it.

But granted I'm into really bleak stuff. I was upset they cut out the people eating the newborn baby in The Road.
