Jones unlikely to take Gane down and hold him there. Jones doesn't have Ngannou strength.

Yeah and once he gets elbows and knees in his face then what? You forgot what Gus and Reyes did to him? Multiply that by 10 and you’ve got Gane. I just don’t understand how underrated Gane is !
You doubt Jon Jones in the clinch?

When was his first prime? Strikeforce? Lol
His first fight after leaving the UFC against Vitale up until he knocked out Manhoef. Then he slumped, came back to the UFC, and resurged.
Gsp arguably looked his worst in his last ww title defense
Takes a FOUR YEAR layoff
Comes back and smoked the champ of a division above
Goats do what goats do, I expect Jones to look like a killer or he wouldn't be back. He's ego driven and legacy driven and surrounded by a good staff. He's gonna smoke gane.
Comparing apples to cigarettes.

By this logic any skilled wrestler should be able to move up a weight class and dominate strikers. Unfortunately, that is rarely the case.
That is a non-sequitur. Perhaps you should read the original post.

Counterpoint: Ngannou doesn’t have 1/10 of Jones’ wrestling experience or skill. If Ngannou can hold him down, Jones should be able to do anything he wants.
Size and strength matter a lot in grappling. You can be less skilled and still dominate the grappling if you are bigger and stronger. This is why grapplers prefer to be the bigger fighter and fight smaller fighters because it's harder to takedown and control bigger/stronger fighters. This is usually why grappling based fighters usually cut the most weight.

This fight has too many unknowns about Jones for me to be confident in picking a clear path to victory for either fighter. If Jones is able to get Gane on the ground or up against the cage and bully him, then he's clearly going to give any HW a tough fight. Seems more likely he will try to fight a dirty point fighting style and eventually get caught by HW power.

Maybe he is more focused now than back then, but I'll never forget the first Gus fight. Even a drained lhw Cormier gave a fully juiced Jones trouble.
Laughs in picograms

Every fighters time to lose comes eventually unless they retire early on a winning streak. Even the one and only MMA GOAT Fedor lost eventually, and so did Anderson Silva.
GSP went out on a WIN
Anderson in his mid forties was still going the distance with guys like Izzy.

Fedor lost in his early 30s to a forty year old MW and continued to get pummelled in sanctioned fights for over a decade after that.

Its not reasonable to compare these three in that regard

Wrong, Jon isn't hurting for money. He didn't need this fight.
So why was he demanding a minimum 30 mill to fight Francis for so long when he could've done this years ago? Oh, of course he had to build up a HW frame, hahahahaha.

That proves my point.

If he was desperate for money, he would have fought years ago and took whatever they offered him.

I'm not the only one telling you that Jon doesn't need the money. But, that doesn't mean that he's not gonna try to get the biggest deal possible.

The fact that he could demand so much and was prepared to hold out or possibly not even compete again tells you that he's doing fine.

It could also prove he calculates risk vs reward fighting at HW. A possible loss damaging not only his legacy but also his leverage agianst the UFC. You where saying he didn't need to fight, I'm saying he does.

Lol, why did you even bother responding with that? Your response added nothing and only states the obvious.

Of course he calculated his risk and I'm aware of what we're both saying. There was no clarification needed in that regard.

It's not a matter of opinion though. Do you honestly think that fighting is Jon's only means of income?

Gane by 3rd rd TKO. I'm extremely confident this isn't gonna go well for Jones. This isn't the dominant Jones we've come to know from years ago.

It’s funny, I watched a Dan Hardy breakdown of this fight and he was guilty of the same thing that a lot of fans are: he said that he had just watched all of Jones’ old fights and was blown away, picking Jon. Truth is the old unregulated Jon was nowhere to be seen once USADA controls came into effect. Hardy and a ton of fans are living in the past, ripe for a big disappointment.

You are totally missing the point of the possibility Jones loosing will make him less money in the future than him remaining "undefeated" not fighting. Hence he NEEDS a huge payday to make up for a legacy loss.

Please give me some facts about Jones yearly income outside UFC instead of just talking like you have facts.

Word was that Francis fell in love with wrestling and had improved leaps and bounds. To the point where he was out wrestling some really good Russian wrestlers and they couldn't even get Francis off of them. He out wrestled Stipe for fucks sake, and Stipe has more experience in the wrestling department than Jones. That should tell you all you need to know. Almost everyone had underrated Francis's wrestling big time imo. It's pretty clear how much better he got just between the 2 Stipe fights alone.

Overpowering a 40 year old who’s 30lbs lighter and was KO’d unconscious by DC isn’t a flex…

Respect wrestling.

Adesanya lost in the same scenario and is making more now than he ever has in MMA.
