Beating Pav or Tom does nothing for his career, especially at his age. I completely understand him. If someone can retire a this stage and with such accolades, why chase anything more? He put himself in position to retire as a GOAT and do everything he wanted to do.

He never has to fight Ngannou, Blaydes, Pavlovich, Aspinall, he got to avoid Overeem, Werdum, Velasquez and HW Cormier, he also never had to rematch Reyes at LHW.

Now he is fighting Stipe and if he wins many folks will call him GOAT and one of the best HW of all time.

People need to look at what he's saying more closely.

Hes not ducking any of them... he's basically implying the price has to be right for the risk the same things he's said consistently throughout his career...
