Jones is close to being the GOAT

ok. then fedor's list of great wins should include the likes of coleman, babalu, arona, all of whom have fought or won UFC championships and went unbeaten for long streaks.

lol no. and arona beat fedor

I agree with Coleman. He was top ten at HW when they fought in my opinion. Arona was an unastablished rookie at the time that only knew how to grapple and some argue he won that fight. I think Babalu at the time was a great fighter and it was a big win for Fedor.

I'm not arguing that Fedor should not be included in a GOAT list, I was just saying Rashad is a great fighter and deserves to be put on the great fighters Jones has beaten list.

Lets be honest Sherdog, mrmeatfist..sir, peteyandjia, madmick, MC Paul Barman, Matt, jonessnitchphones, Seoul, all the haters and the favorers, Jon Bones Jones is currently the GOAT in the whole WORLD as of RIGHT NOW and since he first whooped Stephan Bonnar into another realm. Jon Jones is currently the GOAT @205 & in the whole world imo, str8 the f** u^^^^

IQ number = Foot Size Number?

jones has beaten better competition, no doubt. evans, shogun, machida, gus, belfort, rampage, glover > serra, hughes, penn, shields, hardy, alves, diaz

On average Jones has beaten bigger names, but these guys are so legendary people usually do give it to Jones. The difference in my opinion is at what stage of their career were their opponents in general I think Jones has fought guys who in general were on a decline, whereas Geroges was fighting off guys who were up and comers or in their prime.

In general I think that at this point they even out but a victory over DC cements Jones without any doubt (except for trolls) that he is the GOAT, however I believe DC beats Jones 8-9 out 10 times. Same stat for Velasquez/JDS, Cain takes it 8-9 out of 10.

Saying Jones beat (all of the sudden--old too) middlewights is like saying GSP beat lightweights, Fedor beat light heavyweights and middlweights(and was KTFO by one), and Andy beat welterweights.

Fun fact, Anderson Silva started his career at 170. Fun fact, Anderson has weighed 220+ lbs. Fun fact Anderson Silva is 6'2 with a 78inch wingspan.

You guys are so full of shit.

oh gosh not this shit again...
check the rules god dammit..

this thread is a "lets hate fedor thread" i think every single hater made an effort to post

i like fedor...just someone trying to reach saying arona is a good win is ridiculous

If Jones beats Cormier then next opponent, likely Gus, he will have tied GSP with 9 title defenses I believe, at a higher, more competitive weight class(IMO). I think it could be safely argued that after that, Jones has the credentials to be considered above GSP in All Time p4p lists.

shogun and rampage were past it, and evans isn't anywhere near the list of MMA greats, sorry to say

How was Shogun past it?? He was at his highest point in his career when he had the LHW title.

Nope.

Skillwise Jon already failed several tests Fedor easily passed

-Jones has lost several rounds (Fedor arguably didn't lose one 10 years)
-Jones has taken more damage than Fedor did in 10 years (until the Bigfoot fight)
-Jones has had close and controversial wins during his reign (Fedor never left any doubts)

Also Fedor also had a much larger streak, and defeated better competition . Big Nog alone > any fighter in Jones' resume (do not argue with this, it's a fact).

Nog had a 13 win streak and 4 top wins the first time he fought Fedor. That puts him above any of the fighters Jones has ever faced (all whom had shorter streaks with less top wins or even recent losses). In the rematch Nog had a 5 win streak with 3 top wins. Again that > all of Jones' opponents. Both Fedor's wins over Nog were better than any of Jones' wins.

Arlovski was in a 5 win streak with 2 top wins, which is better than Shogun, Bader, Rampage, Machida, Vitor, Sonnen, Gus (who had a slighly larger streak but less top wins). Only Rashad edges him with a top win, but Nogueira was in a better streak with more top wins than Rashad, both times he fought Fedor.

Crocop had a 7 win streak with 1-2 top wins. That's better than Machida, Shogun, Rampage, arguably Gus and arguably Glover.

Quantity & quality is the key, and Fedor's best wins > Jones' best wins when it comes to that.

Jones is great, but he still has a long way to reach Fedor's status. Cheers.

He needs to rematch Gus and beat him decisively. He may have gotten the win against him before, but a lot of people don't think he earned it. Assuming he beats DC and Gus, he'll have nine defenses and one more would tie him with Silva. If he surpassed Silva's record, it would be very hard to deny him as the best ever.

It will be about number of finishes when they're tied, for me. So Jones above GSP-- almost.

Still GOAT.

ok silva is my favorite fighter of all time, but it was james irvin he fought.

He fought Irvin because no other LHW would accept the fight. Irvin was 5-1-1(3 Ko's 1 sub) when he fought Anderson.

Anderson also fought former LHW champ Forrest who had just lost the belt.

And of course he stepped up on short notice and finished a roided out Bonnar, something even Jones (or any other fighter) wasn't able to do.

lol this is classic fedor nut hugging. watch the arona, fuijita, and randleman fights. and better competition? that may be the most laughable thing I've ever seen on sherdog. And jones never takes a fight like zulu
