I think the Gus fight set him back a little. I mean you look at Andy and pretty much all his title defensives were extremely one sided. He had the Chael fight but he turned around and owned him in the rm.

Jones is good but he needs to go back to dominating guys if he wants GOAT status. If he beats Cormier, then RM's Gus and destroys him I think it would be reasonable to say he is GOAT status.

I think it is universally agreed that if he beats Cormier, Gus AND ANY 1 more, he is the GOAT. Anyone who would try to deny it after that is just a hater. Even beating Cormier and Gus puts him in talks, but I would have to have a serious sit down and look at everything closely to make that call. If he beat Anthony Johnson/OSP or even Cormier/Rashad/Lyoto in a rematch after, I wouldn't have any doubts.

Silva was 32 when he solidified himself.
GSP was 25 and plays it safe and also was beaten a few times.
Fedor never fought in a legit org but that doesn't take away from his accomplishments.

Jones was 24 and chose MMA on a whim, became the most dominant champ sans Andy, and beat nothing but former champs and legends, in the premiere org, even with the world against him.
