I'm honestly starting to think that this is more for dana white. It's a career moment for him putting together a fight like this that almost never gets made. having jones fight stipe means the most to dana white's career than it does either of the other 2 guys. I'm inclined to think this fight is really for dana. That's why he's so defensive about it.

Its all about Francis, Stipe has a win over him and Jones is the "GOAT" so if he beat the guy that beat Francis he would had done the same to Francis, failproof MMA equation.

Normally, when you see -725, it means you’re so much better than your opponent. But in this case, it just shows how washed the opponent is. Any HW in the top 5 would be a big favorite vs Stipe now.

If you’re a fan of this legacy fight, you’re the problem with mma. This is not a job interview, it’s an mma fight. Don’t throw out resumes when there’s Aspinall the top contender. Aspinall is the next generation. And I want to see next generation vs old guard(like Topuria vs Holloway). That way it shows legitimacy of the HW belt.

Just because of who Stipe is and what he does for a living, Id be willing to be that dude is always in shape. I used to do a lot of work for multiple fire departments in my state and there are always a couple of seriously in shape guys at every fire house and a bunch of fatasses that sit around and cook lasagna. Id be willing to bet he's in the first group.

And is 42 really that old? Maybe for the lighter weight classes but Jones isnt going to KO anyone and I just dont see the 5 year spread between them being that big of a deal. And maybe the long layoff was good for him. There are a ton of unknowns and I just dont think -725 is warranted. Jon hasn't looked great in several of his last fights and Stipe isnt coming in for a paycheck, he's coming in to win.

We know what matchup should have been made and instead we get this. I really hope Stipe gets the job done.

Well you gotta remember there's a lot of people out there who put serious money on these fights, if sportsbooks offered Jones up at those odds people would dump tons of money on him until the line moved closer back to the -700 range.

Stipe is in his 40s and hasnt fought actively in long time but with them odds Id probably play him. Jones didnt look good physically vs Gane and the fight was basically over before it even began. I at least expect Stipe to fight the hands if Jones looks to lock in a choke
