I'm not arguing for the necessity of theae numbers. I'm showing that they are viable and that many physicists and mathematicians are taking very seriously.


To put those numbers in perspective, it means that the odds of the universe coming into existence by itself are one in all of the atoms in a thousand universes!!!!

This is why many atheist quantum physicists started inventing the many worlds theory to get around it. I say theory lightly because it's not a theory at all. It's just kind of a bunch of quantum physicists saying hold my beer.


And again I just don't care about these arguments. They mean nothing to me, but that's the current state of science right now.

I call your fine-tuning argument and raise you the anthropic principle.

That doesn't do anything to address my position though. I'm not arguing for the necessity of that position and never would because scientific understanding evolves and changes over time and I'm not going to put stock in something that might change tomorrow.


My position is that right now mathematically it makes all the sense in the world to think there's a Creator and that's why so many physicists even who are atheist admit that. They are not saying there's a God. They're just saying there's good arguments for it scientifically.

I'm not saying there are no detractors for the position and I'm not saying there are no arguments against it. I just don't care.

But currently we've left that very narrow window of time when science thought religion was on the retreat and that scientists had overspoken and led with their chins and tried to pretend they had proven the non-existence of God in some crazy way.

That age has ended and we've entered a new age where quantum physicists who are atheists who led with their chins are on shaky ground.

I think it's okay just to admit that science has nothing to say about whether or not there's a God and you can argue either way. But for now the mathematics are on the side of God.

You could be absolutely correct that the theory is generally accurate and can be expanded upon with further information (this is the scientific method after all). You could also be completely wrong and fooled by the theatrical hubris of our existential dread in trying to answer something that is simply unknowable in the first place.

Possibly Paul is more influential on Christianity as it’s practiced today than Jesus himself. It’s Paul’s Epistles (the ones that are genuine anyway) that are the oldest texts in the NT. As you mention, Luke/Acts is a significant part of the NT and was a text that deliberately alight to suppress or marginalize the family of Jesus, including James, and paint a picture in which James played no leadership role, which we know is not true.

If you read the four canonical gospels in a consecutive or side by side manner, it almost feels as if Luke was written specifically for a gentile audience. At least compared to Matthew, Mark, and John (which is distinct itself in other ways).

Re: that first paragraph--I don't see a lot of that happening, but then, I haven't looked very hard either. But I appreciate the rest of the post as an ex-Catholic myself.

Oh, it's admittedly entirely anecdotal and "feeling" based. The latest figures and polling from Pew and such do seem to suggest that the religious bleeding of churches being emptied has reached a plateau (at least in America), but that's quite a different thing from being some sort of revival. For the overtly anti-religion crowd, I do think it would be prudent not to rest on laurels and assumptions.

As an ex-Catholic, do you tend to lean into the side of hostility or lingering sympathy towards it? I tend to reserve hostility specifically for the strain of transdemoninational Evangelical Protestantism that exists in the United States. It's an absolute scourge on the country, much less Christianity at large. At least with Catholic doctrine, it teaches salvation through faith plus grace and good works (compassion, charity, kindness). Not so with evangelicals nor protestantism in general. It's through faith alone, so there is no religious incentive not to be a cruel shithead. It means nothing to point out their behavior runs contrary to Christ.

Rogan didn't want to be first in getting the interview. He wants to be first, as in the top of the leader boards. He has an entire entourage of comedian podcasts under with him at the top of the hierarchy. He always said he would never put on Trump and he gave his reasons. Publicly giving out those reasons, he assumed his other underlings wouldn't touch Trump either. They always look to him for validation. Especially guys like Theo, they're careful to do anything that would get disapproval from Saint Rogan.

Nothing changed except Theo had Trump on, the internet blew up and everyone gave Theo his flowers as the next big thing. You constantly heard "yo I used to listen to Rogan but theo is way better"

That bruised Rogan. It hurt his ego. He realized quickly that those once underlings are moving on up. He doesnt command the same level of fear and admiration he once had when guys like theo's career was good not great. Rogan wanted that attention and power back. So he had Trump on.

I get it if you don't follow Rogans podcasts or listen much, just stay in your lane then. I've been listening to his podcast since the ustream and justintv days. Lots of people have really negative and terrible experiences on DMT. My one friend was never the same after his trip to South America. His trip wrecked him psychologically and he never recovered.
