Who wins?

Alex is also defensibly irresponsible. Just watch the fight with Jan.
Outside of kicks Jan landed the harder shots

the reason Alex won the fight was because of a flurry up against the fence in the second, but I rewatched it and Jan wasn’t even hit at all during the flurry.

Outside of a calf kick that started it, and a blocked left hook, the flurry isn’t as damaging when you rewatch it. It looks worse with the camera angles, there’s a YouTube video from the crowd that’s better

He just wanted to time Alex like Izzy did so he took a few punches as bait

But he was gassed so he ended up looking rocked when he wasn’t and didn’t return fire

otherwise Jan landed some clean shots

Jan’s striking is so slept on

He shut down Izzy, and honestly I think Alex as well

Jiri has a really good ground game also, he subbed glover

Is Alex at his age with all his wars really ready for a back n forth war? Especially when you throw in the ground game

But Alex is always one hook away from ending it early like he did against Strickland

The longer the fight goes, the more Jiri is going to put a beating on Alex. I see Alex folding after Jiri won’t stop coming forward

The fans win no matter what. But Pereira KOs him in 3 rounds.

Either way im ready for the sherdog implosion after this card

Jiri vs Poatan followed by Jones vs Stipe. I can't remember a main and co-main being this big

If Poatan wins it would be incredible. 7th UFC fight and the guy might become a two division UFC and Glory kickboxing champion?! unheard of.

Alex is more technical striking but has a suspect chin. Alex has a great kicking game and catching Jiri with his hands down wouldn’t be a huge surprise.

Jiri has poor defense, unpredictable offense and a good chin. Jiri has better wrestling and subs.

I lean towards Jiri, but if the fight goes all 5 rounds the fighter with the best cardio will likely win.

It should be wildly entertaining while it lasts.

In this weight class?

This one is really tricky. There are questions on both sides.

The biggest being Jiri’s shoulder. I like both guys. But this should be Jiri vs Jan. With that said Jiri is very hittable. And Alex can hit hard. But Jiri definitely has some advantages in this fight.

This is tough. But slightly leaning towards Alex. The only surprise ending for me would be Alex winning by sub.

I need to see some film of Jiri training. I probably won’t make my final decision until the morning of the fight.

The UFC really must dislike Jiri. Instant stripping, then matching him up with a lose/lose in Alex who might be a stylistic nightmare in his first fight back...the fuck.

I hope Poatan wins, then Izzy moves up to rematch him and then Poatan knocks him out again

Would be the most hilarious thing ever, losing to him 4-1, or 6-1 if you include Strickland and Jan

Izzy's soul will forever be taken. I will drink his delicious tears
Mans obsessed with Izzy

I think Jiri's best path to victory is scoring a finish with something explosive and unpredictable. But I think Alex's technical striking prowess will prove to be the difference in allowing him to win a clear decision or eventual stoppage.
There is no clear decision. If he doesnt stop Jiri,Jiri will STOP HIM

No idea. I think Jiri mixes it up a lot better and seems to have a better chin. That being said, he's at his best when he's reckless which in turn is going to present opening to a sniper like Pereira.

What a fight though. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

Is Jiri's shoulder healed ? Seems early to come back especially as it as described as being seriously torn up less than a year ago . Based on that the fight being stopped due to injury is more likely than before . My pick is for Periera to smite his enemy, hear the lamentations of his women and see Jiri driven before him in chains to paint his fence and general yard work

Poatan clocking in at an enormous 6 UFC appearances

Interesting to note that arguably the most hyped fight in ages is between two guys who made their names outside of the UFC.

Further proof the UFC is in the business of promoting itself, not fights or fighters I guess

I appreciate it. Watching Poatan vs. Strickland now. Didn't know they fought.

Strickland might actually be pretty good.

A split loss to Cannonier, that a lot of peeps felt he won and a loss to Poatan, who we now know is a beast.

I love Jiri, I just see Poatan finding that sweet spot.

Either way, super pumped for this.

(Hopefully Jiri shoulder is 100%)

Absolute dream fight

So much violence. I think Jiri has the slightest edge, but really due to MMA experience. Alex is likely the better pure striker

Agree and I think the key is probably how Jiri’s chin holds up. He’s not going to stand at distance and eat leg kicks. He’ll force a brawl, and if he doesn’t get dropped by AP’s power he will end up landing something big in the chaos.

Neither result would surprise or disappoint me honestly. Violent KO artists make the best champions IMHO.
