Jiri vs Pereira, who you got?

Who wins?

Most interesting aspect to me is Jiri’s approach.

Does he come out more patient/careful because AP is a sniper, but risk getting hobbled by leg kicks or simply beaten to the chin by a superior technician?

Does he try too hard to make it crazy and throw some dumb spinning shit with no set up and get folded up?

Does he find the right balance, overload AP with variables, and find his chin?

Or does he try to grapple and make it a grind?

Genuinely no idea.

Jiri is also the first guy that matches poatan in all areas physically, height, weight, and reach. There is not one single physical advantage for poatan here, which is not something that we've seen in his mma career.

not true. alex has a huge weight advantage on the day of the fight. he cuts like crazy.
jiri does not cut as much (he was interviewed during his fight week in singapore vs. glover) because
he likes to have more movement

jiri:
6'3"
98 kg (216 lbs) day of fight
80 in reach

alex:
6'4"
225 lbs+ day of fight
79 in reach

Agree and I think the key is probably how Jiri’s chin holds up. He’s not going to stand at distance and eat leg kicks. He’ll force a brawl, and if he doesn’t get dropped by AP’s power he will end up landing something big in the chaos.

Neither result would surprise or disappoint me honestly. Violent KO artists make the best champions IMHO.
Well said. Do you think Pereira might be able to slow the pace down with his tricks (footwork, feints, etc.)? I feel like a brawl and the overall chaos just simply favors Jiri and Alex and his team are too smart to not know that.

Pereira also trains with Glover and Reyes who both fought Jiri, so their insight might make a difference.

Tough pick. You have to assume Alex is just the way more polished kick boxer. But Jiri throws heat, with insane aggression and conviction. Alex can be hit, and Jiri has the type of style where he can just beat you to the punch unexpectedly. Alex's Lead jab/hook and calf kick game are very strong if allowed to be set up. And jiri will engage grappling if he thinks he can finish it there.

Alex is the much cleaner striker and Jiri has careless defense. I think Alex wins but I voted "the fans."

If Jiri fights like he has been, basically running face first as he throws his punches, I can see Alex clipping him with a lead left hook and finishing the job.

Surely Poatan lands early and hard, question is whether Jiri can take it

UFC didn’t strip Jiri, he voluntarily relinquished his title rather than hold onto it injured.
Suuuurrrrrrrreeeee.

His statement literally said he'd be out six months, and after "consulting with UFC management, that due to this time constraint, I will not hold light heavyweight division and will vacate the title."

Incredibly tough fight to pick. Both guys are killers, but they both have had issues with defence in the past, so it’s extremely likely someone is getting KOed. I think Jiri is a little too wild and that Alex will catch him.

I’d guess AP’s team trains him to fight a disciplined fight. If Jiri insists upon it though, I’m not sure what can be done.

would not shock me if this ends in a double knockout
