Jiri COULD win if he had any fight IQ.... But as it stands, I think Poatan is a terrible matchup for him and will KO him.

Poatan clocking in at an enormous 6 UFC appearances

Interesting to note that arguably the most hyped fight in ages is between two guys who made their names outside of the UFC.

Further proof the UFC is in the business of promoting itself, not fights or fighters I guess
"bu-b-but the best fighters are in the UFC and only in the UFC!"

Think Alex, want Jiri, don’t care either way I like both guys im just happy this was the UFC I decided to attend live since Conor vs Aldo because this co main event is fucking fantastic

A pretty comfortable win for Jiri if he uses his tools intelligently, but he usually doesn’t.

He was getting tagged by Glover, but I don’t think Jiri is afraid to take the fight to ground, where he also submitted Glover.

So, it just depends whether Poatan can finish the fight the first time he rocks him.

I have no clue, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jiri win by submission or to see Alex win by KO, this is such a great matchup.

Sadly, I don’t think we will see a long drawn out war, I’d venture to say that it’s unlikely that the fight gets lasts past a round two, both men are absolute finishers of the highest order.

I was gonna say Jiri if he turns into a grappler, but again i said the same about costa vs izzy thinking he was some bjj wizard and he ended up getting fucked doggystyle postfight lol .

So its gonna be Poatan by ko jiri wont change his style even if he trains to grapple these fighters have too much cte to think and adjust they always fight the same.

i’m picking jiri, but with only 51% confidence. both are extremely dangerous, but jiri has a way of turning every fight into his type of fight. because he isn’t afraid to get hit, he disrupts disciplined fighters who prefer to fight at range. he throws weird strikes that are hard to prepare for, and when they land, they’re usually very effective. it’s fair to say he’s had a bit of luck not getting knocked out, fighting as recklessly as he does. but it’s not all luck. he is just a very good fighter.

…but he’s also coming off a serious injury and a long layoff. there’s some reason to think he won’t be the same fighter he was.

Fans win. Alex chews up Jiris legs and it going to be a sitting duck

Alex is more technical striking but has a suspect chin. Alex has a great kicking game and catching Jiri with his hands down wouldn’t be a huge surprise.

Jiri has poor defense, unpredictable offense and a good chin. Jiri has better wrestling and subs.

I lean towards Jiri, but if the fight goes all 5 rounds the fighter with the best cardio will likely win.

It should be wildly entertaining while it lasts.

I think Jiri's best path to victory is scoring a finish with something explosive and unpredictable. But I think Alex's technical striking prowess will prove to be the difference in allowing him to win a clear decision or eventual stoppage.

RF asked me a long time ago which fights I wanted to see, and I told him, without question, Alex vs Jiri was the fight I wanted most, that I couldn't think of a matchup with more guaranteed violence. Alex wasn't even official for LHW at that time, this may have been shortly after he won MW belt, so this was a true fantasy matchup. At that point, I wasn't convinced it would actually happen.

And now it is, and I'm stoked that the fanbase is split, and at how everyone agrees and feels the way I did about this fight. It's a hard fight to call, and is as sexy a stylistic matchup as we've gotten as fans of this sport.

I'ma ride with Jiri until the wheels fall off, he's the prototype for the fighter I wanna watch. He's the guy everyone accuses of having no fight IQ, who throws himself willingly into bad situations, and still squashes the other guy. He's very Fedor-esque, in that respect, Joe.

But I like Alex, and that left hook has found a place in the annals of MMA legend, like Crocop's LHK. This is about the hardest fight to call, and I'm riding with Jiri, but I didn't choose him in the poll. We win, this time.

Yeah it's a close one, it's like who first lands wins. But I think Jiri has the better chin, so I'm leaning towards him.

Jiri doesn't have a better chin and his defense is atrocious to say the least. He got KO by king mo in rizin, but the thing is, Poatan has better defense but he also can be knocked out.

It's not even close

TKO 4th.

Jiri has no defense and Pereira has questionable defense against right hands.
uh whoever lands first?
