Jiri vs Pereira 1 will never sit right with me.

Marc Goddard is an ass ref, he has ruined multiple matchups I was excited for with premature stoppages. Jiri was doing good against Pereira , until he got clipped, but upon rewatching the video multiple times, and after a few years, the stoppage still doesn't sit right with me. Jiri gets clipped in every single fight, it was nothing new for him, and he ended up landing in a relatively safe position, which he has been in dozens of times over his career and recovered. Marc Goddard stopped the fight the second Jiri's back hit the floor without even analyzing the position and situation for Jiri. Marc Goddard is a bad referee and he ruined that fight, and altered the course of history for the LHW division.

And then for the rematch, Jiri had already taken heavy damage in the first fight and I'd assume it played a big factor in Jiri's performance.

Sure I want to see Pereira vs Jiri 3, but that stoppage took a lot out of Jiri and took his career off course, but Jiri went through literal killers row to get back to the 3rd fight and i'm all for it.

You get the luxury of multiple rewatches and multiple angles. You get the luxury of watching without distractions. Ref is in the moment. It's part of the sport

What about their second fight? Anything that happened in that one that doesn't sit right with you?

He's never beating Poatan. Ever.
You’re probably correct because he’s not going to get a 3rd crack at Alex…

But, That’s what we used to say about Izzy who dropped 3 strait against Alex, 4th meeting Poatan was confident, in between rounds he said “I see everything he’s throwing” then Alex was legit KO’d.

Izzy's more refined than Jiri. Jiri is too wild and doesn't have the skill. Also Alex was severely diminished at 185 due to the extreme weight cut.

Fury's fucking huge and look at Alex next to him...

You can sell it three times,It is known.

The KO packages are there.
I know it could sell 3 times but IMO there would be more hype and it would sell better if Alex defends against Ulberg and Jiri beats Ank first cause that would then prove they are the absolute best in the division and the two of them fighting would decide who is the undisputed king of 205.

Fury is a big dude, Izzy is defensively much more responsible than Jiri, but Denisa is totally unpredictable which he has the whiskers to keep in the game, well unless it’s Poatan.

Get DC to take a picture with Fury, it will look ridiculous, no one really questioned DC being a HW.

Second fight was short notice, so the UFC owes him for having their fucking back and helping to save that card.
I'm down for Alex vs Jiri 3. Let's do it. I like that fight.

I think Jiri went limp while taking those elbows to the head but woke up again when (or before) hitting the ground.
But by then, Goddard had already made his decision.

Hard to say it that the stoppage "altered the course of history for the LHW division" since Pereira had won the first round before TKOing Jiri (even if premature) and went on to again win the first round of the second fight (leaving Jiri in his ass by the end of the round) and destroying him in the first seconds of the second round.

So, as history has proven, the chances of Jiri recovering from that assault and turning the fight around would be close to none.
I recall Jiri saying afterwards that he went out and had no issue with the stoppage

Alex regularly gets these mildly questionable stoppages (Izzy, Jiri, Ank) that sour the moment. Kinda sucks as a fan of his. But at the same time we’ve seen what happens when the ref doesn’t stop the fight “early” (Jiri 2) and it’s sad/ugly.

Imagine Jiri doing what he did for two rounds in his last match but against someone who could end him with one punch. Not looking forward to see it( again).

Straight from Jiri himself, regarding that first fight ending.

Horrible stoppage. Maybe the first "TKO stoppage: because one guy got mount position" stoppage since UFC 1 when Jimmerson tapped to Royce getting mount. Unlike that fight, the mounted fighter didn't tap however, therefore truly horrible.

Up there with "sub stoppage: didn't tap and didn't go out but it looked tight" Chieasa vs Lee and the "sub stoppage: didn't tap and just gave a thumbs up but it looked tight and I'm here to fix a fight" Herb Dean in Lawler vs Askren

It has nothing to do with who the fighters are. Just be consistent. Dropping a dude and getting mount... just on paper... is an incredibly idiotic standard to stop a fight to. Much less a championship fight.

Said it that night, I'll say it again.

Hands went limp, Jiri went out. When you go out, the fight is over.

I don’t care , look at where Jiri landed. He was moving and defending and in a good position. In my opinion Marc Goddard sucks
