I don't think anyone's mention the fact that this guy probably killed himself knowing that his life is done. Guy had private jets to go to private islands and is now in a cell. Thats a mind fuck beyond anything
Also he probably fears a brutal death for what he knows that can happen anytime he gets send to a federal prison upstate or somewhere.

I can't agree based on personal experience.

Boys being boys there was a very stupid game we all played in grade school. In that game we would purposely hyperventilate for a about a minute, take a deep breath and hold it and then a friend would put his hands on your carotid arteries and you would quickly pass out. You could even do it to yourself accept for the fact that as you got close to passing out your hands would always draw back in reflex and if your friend was holding you would reach for him. But you literally had about 1-2 seconds before they fell.

We played this game as well, except we would take a hit of a bucket bong, then stand up, tilt our heads back, and pinch the carotids. As you say, you have a second or two before you go out. I think you are misunderstanding what I meant when I was referring to your mention of "panic urge", in that the body does almost take on a mind of it's own when facing death and will cause you to panic and get yourself out of danger, whether you consciously want to or not. I was operating under the assumption that this is what you were referring to, and why I stated that it's not like drowning or suffocating where you might unwittingly go apeshit - there is no panic so to speak ...
