This sounded like a setup to me until I read he was no longer on suicide watch. That makes it easier for him to do it. But how the fuck did they take him off suicide watch? Still sounds shady. Even if it wasn't an actual person strangling him to death just leaving him to his own devices can be considered murder. Whoever was responsible for taking him off suicide watch will have a lot to explain.

I fully agree that some hard questions need answering. But then again I don't know what the procedures and regulations are at that facility.

Being high profile doesn't make him any less human. If the dude was dedicated to killing himself, then the potential was there. As i've said multiple times, unless he was chemically or physically restrained, then all it really takes is a few moments to do life threatening self harm. You can make an argument that the facility failed, which i'm assuming they clearly did, or you can suspect that the guards just watched him die, which maybe they did, or someone else killed him, etc. But being under observation is no guarantee that someone can't commit suicide.

How exactly do you kill yourself in a few moments in a jail cell? It takes several minutes to die due to lack of oxygen, and most likely your body will start convulsing and making gasping sounds.

Whoever was in charge of supervising him needs to be very seriously reviewed. The reason that suicide risks need such excruciatingly close supervision is because of how extremely easy it is for them to pull it off given just a couple moments of time to act. There has to be very very tight observation without lapse. But people make mistakes, or are negligent, or maybe they do follow all the procedures and it still doesn't work. That happens. It's very difficult to keep someone fully restrained in perpetuity. They have rights, hearings, exercise time, and so on and so on. The people doing the evaluations can do as good a job as they can yet still have their hands tied by subjects that understand how to compose themselves. the observation procedures at that facility need a review at the very least.
But we can always hope that he at least didn't get to off himself and was rather brutalized to death in some heinous fashion. I'd like that very much to have been what happened.

Sorry, but you have this all wrong. It is maybe somewhat difficult to put someone under 24 hour observation. It is very easy to keep people from killing themselves. They literally put them in a room with a rubber mat, and a metal toilet, naked or in boxers.

The handful of minutes it takes to shut down your own brain via asphyxiation might seem like an eternity sitting here at a computer, but that is not very long at all, especially if nobody notices until it's too late. They have to get to you and start cpr right away. I don't get how people have such a hard time wrapping their brains around how easy it is to kill yourself.

False. You need to chemically or physically restrain them, or have uninterrupted close supervision at a very close distance.
You can kill yourself with your boxers, the toilet, or even chewing your nails into a ragged edge and clawing at your own arms. There was a case back in my town several years ago where a guy charged with something horrible came to court and then ran full speed headfirst into a brick wall. Snapped his own neck like a twig. Can't remember if he died or not, but that surely is more than enough to get the job done.
