News James Vick Retires From MMA

Good call.

Can we get some more GIFs of Vick getting gadooshed in this thread? We must honor his legacy.

I think at the end of the day, there's a little bit of James Vick in a lot of the posters here, that's why you see this retirement announcement resonate with so many individuals. On that note, I wish you all the best following this difficult time, and hope to see you on here again. Cheers.

He had an incredibly quick rise and an incredibly quick fall, short lived and some big lowlights but overall he had a respectable career and beat some solid fighters. Wish him the best.

No, people talked shit

I think Vick got a tad extra due to Gym affiliation and prolly the Justin jibber.

Not particularly sure but that's what I recall whenever his name popped in a thread.

his career is an example of extreme weight cutting gone wrong imo. nobody that tall with his frame should be cutting to 55

Ehh, I'm 5'10 and cut to 125 for my amatuer fights. Its not even that hard of a cut. Some of us are just built different.

Best of luck James. Like you said, you went out on your shield. No matter what, you are still a bad mofo like anyone else who gets in the cage. I wish you and your Son well. God bless. Speedy recovery.

Hopefully he made enough to retire...
Not a chance, total career earnings around 600-750k according to Google results. Take away taxes, coaching fees, training partners etc might be lucky to take away 500k which is fuck all for an athlete. Don't think he had any any major sponsorships and the Reebok money leftover is good for wiping your ass or buying a base model 1995 Honda Civic.

Still, it would of given him a good head start, at the age of 33 and being as fit as he is, he has options.

He had some pretty entertaining fights. I rooted for him until all the trash talk to Gaethje

Sound like some brutal injuries. He did lose his mouth piece before that entire finishing sequence.

Sad to see him go out, but glad he's happy with the decision. His last 3 guys were so tough... This last bout, he just had no confidence. Shots he use to slip he's reaching for & had some bad habits he couldn't shake at the end. His last 4 bouts in the UFC were all tough (one at a new weight class), but had to call it after this one

Enjoyed his fights
Thank him for the work.
Vick was not very nice to JG and
JG ended him.
Simply picked the wrong guy to shit talk.

Didn't know he started that late. Pretty impressive he got to the UFC and got some wins. Made the smart move, hope he enjoys his health and family.

I would have figured the Price loss was his worst one.

More of these guys should retire when they drop significantly down in competition but still get sparked. I have no problem with guys fighting past their best years as long as they aren't getting consecutively KO'd but when that happens and things aren't turning around then it becomes more of a health liability even more than fighting already does.
