Is there anything to it or just baseless allegations? What's the Sherdog consensus?

All of it is pretty easy to look up as it was a massive scandal particularly in the BJJ community. These weren’t baseless allegations although Lloyd Irvin did not get convicted as his defense was he couldn’t participate. His students raping someone was caught on camera.

I live in the area and his schools are legit, they produce very good BJJ competitors/world champions and for now have had the most success in MMA. But there’s a lot of people who do not like his schools at all. His best students currently I don’t think have a ton of controversy behind them and seem like decent or good people but it’s hard to look past all the history completely

Was never a fan of the guy but good on him for getting out if he doesn't have the passion, skill, etc. That last fight was fucking brutal to watch, felt a little bad for him honestly.

This was an interesting interview that remember watching right before his fight with Niko. He addresses the issues with leaving his hands down and chin in the air, and though I haven't rewatched the whole fight, I seem to recall that Vick was pretty much dominating the fight until that upkick. He just has no striking defense, which sucks because he had some pretty good performances overall.

he was top 10 in the world at his profession at one point (even if you disagree with his rank, round it up to the top 15 - 20)

D leaguers don't make it to the big show, let alone win fights there. he was a good fighter who hit his ceiling and fell off hard

Good to see. Speaking of which is Barao officially retired? Hasn't fought in a while but I havent heard him say it. Not as bad as Vick but when you were up there being considered the best of all time to not being able to win I think it's time to hang it up.

No, Barao had a fight scheduled in TAURA before covid.

He should retire though.
