so during the final of week of Spooktober i finished up w/
The Conjuring
Witchboard
Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II
Night Killer
Killing Spree
C.H.U.D.
The Lighthouse

The Conjuring didn’t do much for me. it was a well-made movie on a technical level & gave the impression that the movie actually gave a damn about its characters, but the scares were so greatest hits of a haunted house attraction. maybe it’s just me, but i’d take a low budget schlockfest over The Conjuring any day.

The Lighthouse was my most anticipated movie release this year & it totally delivered. it was Bergman’s Persona & Hour of the Wolf meets Żuławski’s Possession contained within an homage to Murnau. if that doesn’t get your blood pumping idk what will. definitely go check it out if it’s showing anywhere near you.

I really disliked Conjuring, not for the movie as such but because it really represents what too many horror movies are like these days.
Night Killer & Killing Spree I've never seen, any good?

Witchboard is good enough, there is a huge new Blu Ray box set coming out complete with Ouija board soon, I tihnk it's a German release, might have to pump for it.

Prom Night 2 is OK but the original is one of my all time favorites, disco slasher baby!!

And CHUD is classic, best watched as a double bill with Street Trash

Night Killer & Killing Spree I've never seen, any good?

Witchboard is good enough, there is a huge new Blu Ray box set coming out complete with Ouija board soon, I tihnk it's a German release, might have to pump for it.

Night Killer was goofy trash. lot of fun.

Killing Spree was also complete nonsense. fun bad over-performance by the lead. this is the same director/writer of Truth or Dare?: A Critical Madness. not nearly as “good”, but still a good time.

i can see CHUD being a good double bill w/ Street Trash, but how do you deny a Street Trash & Body Melt or Street Trash & The Incredible Melting Man double feature?
