It's October... Halloween/Horror Movies

I watched Girl on the Third Floor last night, starring CM Punk. I think everybody on this forum hates him, but I love his jerk ass so much.

It was funny. For some reason I thought it was going to be a slow and eerie film with ghosts but . . . It wasn't like that at all. For most of the film you just laugh because Punk is such an ass and things keep going wrong for him. Almost got a scene of him whacking off to porn, but the dog saved us from that. Thank goodness.

Has some gooey and gross effects. Beautiful shots and set imo. Visually it's quite nice. It's not a fantastic film, but it wasn't awful either.

I will go with some Friday the 13th movies and Nightmare on Elm street. But he only thing to really ever scare me was Unsolved Mysteries as a kid.

I watched all the Friday 13th up to number 8 recently, it's my favourite series of movies. Its only once you get to Manhattan they start to drag, but I still like them.

Unsolved mysteries was great wasn't it? I need to pick them up to add to my collection one day

Literally saw this exact thing happen on the way home. Twice

Now if Punk had cracked one off I'd definitely watch it. For research you see

Yea I've always like Friday the 13th most. There's a game on ps4 I play at times called Friday the 13th it's pretty fun and it's like being in the movies you either run away from Jason with other people or you are Jason trying to kill them. They got the cancelers and stuff pretty cool stuff.

Oh yea the old school Unsolved mysteries is freaky lol. I use to like the Blair witch but don't feel it no more. I remember on the way to the theater with my aunt as a kid on the radio they said it was a real film they found, then she put on music so when I watched it I was like holy crap that is freaky. I thought it was real for a few days until I heard more about it .

I've been meaning to play that game for ages, well done for reminding me.

I still like Blair Witch, I used to take a lot of acid and end up in the woods in the middle of the night as a kid, so when we went to watch it real stoned, it had an amazing impact on us, we were all dead silent walking home through the woods that night

Watched Eli a few days ago. Was good until it wasnt. Dont recommend.

Im now watching the last and maybe only scary vampire movie i know.

30 Days of Night.

I haven't seen that since it came out, let me know if you still enjoyed it.

Stake Land is a pretty decent post 2000 vampire movie, not scary, but decent enough

I finally made it to Halloween 6, don't remember anything about this one

I couldn't wait, had to watch it last night. I can only imagine how good it's going to look on your 4K set up

I know. I was originally gutted when I discovered that I wouldn't be getting it in time for Halloween but I've got so much more to watch I realized that I'd be fine. Honestly, I haven't gotten half as much watched as I wanted to this month so I can't complain. As it is I'm going to be watched films non-stop tomorrow & Thursday night.
I see you've been busy though. Good man.

TTT.

What about classic Halloween TV episodes? What are the all-time greats? Anyone have favorites? For some reason none are coming to mind OTTOMH.

TS sounds super edgy watching movies like that like so many other edgy people do.

I watch shining, treehouses of horror, great pumpkin, fright night, hocus pocus (we all think it's not very good, but watch anyway), Garfield Halloween special, and maybe one other scary movie.
Hocus Pocus

Get the fuck out

Millenium had a good one, The Curse Of Frank Black

Every single series was awesome as far as I'm concerned. No idea who this guy is but this the episode being reviewed

More TV shows

Tales From The Dar Side had a couple at least but I can't remember the names, I think this one was written by George A Romero

It was funny watching a young, serious Paul Rudd in Halloween 6

Out of The Body is really tough to find, I think this version on Youtube is about the best you might find (unless you still have VHS player). Movies123 may have it

Retribution is a really cool little movie, I managed to pick it up on a German Blu Ray release a few years ago. It's no 4K scan but it's better than the DVD versions. Really good movie though

Let me know what you think of Lisa & The Devil, and if you can watch House Of Exorcism straight afterwards to see what movie it could have been. I picked up both on Arrows Blu Ray release for a fiver last week
fortunately there’s a VHS rip of Out of the Body on cinemaggedon that i can snag. i missed that it was directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith the first time i looked it up, so i’ll prob download & watch it sooner rather than later because BTS is the fucking man.

i liked Lisa and the Devil well enough, but didn’t have quite the same impact on me as A Bay of Blood. the mise-en-scene was as good as any giallo i’ve seen, especially the interior shots of the mansion. still a 7/10 giallo, just wouldn’t be in my top 15 or anything.
Has anyone posted Blacula yet?

Or:

Or maybe
Blacula is one of the most important black horror films; it’s pretty much a must watch for anyone interested in blaxploitation or the history of black people in horror. it’s also a fun movie for those who are just interested in horror, but a little bit of context enriched the experience for me. i still need to see the sequel though

Ganja & Hess is my favorite blaxploitation film, horror or otherwise. it takes a more intellectual approach to the African American experience by simultaneously shirking & challenging a lot of the black stereotype trappings that so many blaxploitation films fall victim to. highly recommend.

so during the final of week of Spooktober i finished up w/
The Conjuring
Witchboard
Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II
Night Killer
Killing Spree
C.H.U.D.
The Lighthouse

The Conjuring didn’t do much for me. it was a well-made movie on a technical level & gave the impression that the movie actually gave a damn about its characters, but the scares were so greatest hits of a haunted house attraction. maybe it’s just me, but i’d take a low budget schlockfest over The Conjuring any day.

The Lighthouse was my most anticipated movie release this year & it totally delivered. it was Bergman’s Persona & Hour of the Wolf meets Żuławski’s Possession contained within an homage to Murnau. if that doesn’t get your blood pumping idk what will. definitely go check it out if it’s showing anywhere near you.

I didn't realise Out Of The Body was Brian Trenchard-Smith either to be honest, he did Turkey Shoot I believe, which is another awesome OZploitation movie. And of course BMX fuckin Bandits! Loved that movie as a kid, that's another I need to dig out.
Pretty sure he did one of the Leprechaun movies as well
