Part one was already better than the original. Won't take much for this one to surpass the terrible part two of the miniseries.

Looking forward to it.

That trailer/ CGI Pennywise looks like shit. Can't believe nobody is calling that out. I can already tell this movie isn't going to be as good as the first regardless of cast. CGI on Penny looks so dumb and ugly.

Out of the four trailers between the two IT movies this was by far the worst one for me.

I'm seeing some of the same issues in this trailer as the last film.

  • Skarsgard's voice sounds bland as Pennywise in this trailer as it did for most of the first movie(exception was the sewer scene which was excellent)
  • Shitty CGI is confirmed to be back

Anyone else catch the 8-minute preview tonight? Chinese restaurant scene was pretty good. I liked that they had Chinese music playing in the background, but an attractive waitress who speaks perfect English with no accent is a poor casting choice.

Just saw the Alamo Drafthouse is doing "clowns only" screenings at select locations across the US, that's right, everyone must be dressed as clowns... a theater full of terrifying clowns... do with this information what you will

Saw this the other day. It’s only like a day early or so. Not worth the drive to LA.

I'm lucky enough to have one a 5 minute uber ride away, but am ashamed to say I haven't tried it out yet...

Actually, this showing in LA is on the 8th. The movie comes out on the 5th. Maybe it's just a fun activity to dress up like a clown and watch a movie. No real benefit otherwise.

I just watched part 1 for the first time and I really enjoyed it. But I have a question.

I have read that the kids in the Loser's Club will be returning in part 2 in flashbacks. Does anyone know if they thought ahead and filmed those scenes at the same time that they were filming part 1? If not, I would expect there to be a major continuity disconnect. I don't see how they could film those kids 2 years later and then shoehorn those scenes into what is supposed to be the same Summer time frame as part 1. Kids grow and 2 years is a long time in that regard.

And I agree with everyone in the thread saying that Amy Adams should have been cast as the adult Beverly Marsh. That seems like it should have been no-brainer casting. Adams would have been good in that role and the girl in part 1 is an absolute dead ringer for her. Looking forward to part 2.

I'm pretty sure I saw article/news on site like bloodydisgusting.com that this IT: Chapter Two is gonna be first horror movie where they used this digital de-aging technology (on kid actors).

Interesting. They will definitely need to do something if they didn't have the foresight (and/or resources) to shoot the flashback scenes during the production of part 1. I just saw a cast photo from comic-con and the chubby kid looks like he has sprouted about a foot.

EDIT:
I found this. You are correct.

The film will flash back to the past — "reopening events," as star James McAvoy puts it — in order to dredge up repressed happenings from the first film's time. That means filming new scenes with young stars who grew up a lot in the two years between movies. But Muschietti had a solution in mind. "From the beginning, we knew that that would be part of the budget, the visual effects to address that," the director said. "So we're going to de-age the kids."

Impressions sound lukeward - but hey, it's gotta be better than the adult portions of the 1990 version.

The first one has moderate rewatchability, but not great. Sounds like this one is a step below.

I guess I really wanted a better explanation of how this thing and Derry were interconnected.. I should first read the book, I guess.
