Amazingly close fight but I score the 5th round a 10 -8 round for Volk, and I give him the 4th round, even though Islam controlled him. Volk was still punching him in the face with little shots.
If Islam won the first 3 rounds, then it would be a draw, but I think Volk edged out the second round, so I give him the fight.
Islam 's stand up was crispier but he did not do much damage on the ground and Volk definitely damaged him more.
Very impressed with Volk but Islam is no joke although his wrestling is not as good as Khabib, his striking is better.
I have no problem with calling these two guys the best pound for pound fighters now and would love to see a rematch.
Volk needs to take care of Yair first and give himself more time to say at lightweight (possibly at least 9 months) so that he comes in shredded (which he was not today).
